For the past two days, I have been attempting to log my food in for the following day on the night before. Yesterday went very well, although I didn't really include as many calories as I wanted, but I was able to follow the plan. Today, I hiked with a friend as planned, except we trekked for nearly 6 miles rather than 3 as expected. I had to alter my lunch plan, and I am thinking my dinner is going to need to be a little more substantial than previously thought.

This is why I get annoyed with entering food in advance. Life changes and I just want to roll with it. Not that I am locked in just because I typed in a food, but it does seem like extra work.

What I liked about it yesterday was that when I did feel a little hungry, I had already outlined the snacks that I was to have for the day and I was able to work my way through those as the day went on.

I am going to give it at least a solid week before deciding to continue with this or scrap it. At the very least, it has me thinking about what I eat!

Two more days of summer vacation for the kids. I am looking forward to having them back at school! My daughter begged for Cinnamon Roll Pancakes, and I made that for her. She seemed to love them, although I thought they were a little gross. I tasted one, but that was more than enough.

I have made my meal plan for the week and need to stock up on fresh produce today. We have some other errands to take care of and possibly some friends coming over later.

I am going to swim some laps in a few minutes. I have signed up for the 30 minutes/30 days challenge at the gym and need to do at least 30 minutes of cardio everyday for 30 consecutive days. I am on day four--so far so good. I did not pop out of bed early as I have been doing, so I didn't get to the gym first thing. That's okay, I can adjust. I also need to get the puppy out for a walk soon. Sleeping in has thrown my entire day off, although I feel rested, which is always a good thing.

I am amazed at what a few days of serious exercise and fairly good eating can do for me. I have not been taking great care of myself this summer--not terrible, but I could have done much better. I have resolved to turn things back in my favor.

I got up this morning and the dog and I went for a 5+ mile hike in the mountains. We saw several deer. On one stretch of the trail, no fewer than 8 people stopped to warn me that a rattlesnake had been spotted. I was thankful for their warnings, but it did not make for a relaxing hike, trying to keep the curious dog in the middle of the trail. I never did see a snake, but that's okay. Overall, it was a great way to start the day.

I have been working around the house this afternoon, although part of it is cerebral. I have to do some work in the yard in an attempt to pick up the pieces left behind by the drought. I have been planning and working on the design today. I have some good ideas, but seems I have a lot of work to do!
