Day 15 After the excess of Valentines day I managed a fat 1000 calorie deficit yesterday. I'm quite pleased as there was orange sponge and flapjacks in the larder to avoid - I only had one 45 g slice of sponge all day.

I managed to miss the rain and complete a really nice run yesterday - That's 10km a day four days in a row. I'm now keen to make that five - Each run uses around 650 calories and obviously a significant part of my diet plan.

Dismantling the washing machine is nearly complete and it's really fun doing it I collect all pumps fans motors electronic parts, wiring and screw etc for use in home projects. It make dealing recycling simpler plus gives you an idea of how things work. Since moving and having a nice garage I have dismantled a sewing machine, cooker and hob and now a washing machine as they come to their end of life.

have fun.

Day 14 halfway through first month. Yesterday the diet didn't happen because St Valentine wanted me to put on weight with a three course romantic dinner and 1/2 bottle of wine. I even had cheese and biscuits for supper and so ended the day 200 calories net gain. Fortunately it didn't reflect on the scales and I recorded a decent 2.1kg loss for two weeks diet effort.

I did manage a seven mile run yesterday in the wet. Usually here in West Devon it rains a lot over the next two months so I will have to get used to it. My running pace continues to improve each month and it feels like a brilliant reward to me for losing 20kg of fat that I was wearing just eight months ago. At that point I had no idea I would take up running.

We also managed to safely cut the large branch down using the rope with Claire pulling it away from me.
Our washing machine has finally died so yesterday I ordered a new one that's coming on Friday.

Today looks even wetter than yesterday. I will probably take the old washing machine out and dismantle it so I can use the drum as a fire pit surround in the area that I have cleared in the garden.

Day 12 -Yesterdays calorie deficit was 490 and the weigh in gave a further small uptick in weight, this time perhaps explainable. Because of the severe wind I woke at 2 AM and had 2 large cups of tea before returning to bed 1-1/2 hours later.

The weather is still awfully stormy here I hope it calms this afternoon. It's the last day of my running week and need to complete a further 7km to meet my target.

My project for today is a bit of woodworking making some front panels for some new bookshelf sized speakers I am building to go with the television. The first stage will be to try the drivers out in some old cabinets. If that's successful then I plan to make some more domestically acceptable cabinets from spare floor boarding.

It's especially great being retired when the weather is appalling and it makes up for the 42 years that I was working and had to get up to work at 5:30 AM. Laying in bed till 8 is much nicer

Day 11 After four days of drops a small uptick after a 750 calorie deficit- It's the pattern to expect if you weigh yourself every day and it isn't annoying me. My total calorie deficit for the month to date has just passed 7700, the theory suggests this equates to a 1kg loss, I have lost exactly twice that so a good result. I have checked my previous diet metrics over a whole diet term and I have found that I mostly exceed the theory by between 77% to 19%. The only month of six where my loss was worse was at diet end in September -8%. I hope this all means that my recovery in returning to my ideal weight is quite predictable? That is if I can just maintain a decent calorie deficit. Apologies for all the metrics it helps me if I log them in this journal.

We had a lovely time yesterday a walk around the coastline at Bude and a fish and chips lunch on a bench in the cold sun. Today it's very windy so my run might be a challenge. Hopefully I can also finish off lopping the large branch -The rope has arrived.

stay safe
