So I have lost 6lbs since my last weigh-in some 12 days ago, thanks mostly to rigid calorie-counting and keeping off the junk. 14st 12, sounds a whole lot better than 15 4.
However, one only has to look at my previous journal entries for January over the last 2 or 3 years, and there's a heavy sense of déjà vu (been there:done that!)
So I am not going to get overly excited here - pleased yes, but not excited. But what I will try and do is learn from my mistakes of previous years when my weight went back up for one reason or another.
My target is 202lbs (14 6), which I set when this journey began mid-2014. I think I have only touched it once, albeit briefly 3 years ago. Must try harder, and then set another target of 195lbs (13 13), which will be even more of a challenge (but hopefully won't take years to achieve!)
Anyway, to celebrate today's weight loss, I might go wild with an extra buttered tea-cake for breakfast ;-)

Losing 1.7 kg a Week
07 January 2019
So I am back on a calorie-counting diet again (much like I did this time in 2016,17 and 18), and it is good to be watching what I eat, and keeping my daily calorie intake just below my RDI.
It has only been a week in, but that's fine because now that I am focused I no longer crave for those cans of San Miguel, or packets of Walkers Crisps, or rather fabulous Chinese and Thai takeaways anymore!
I will admit that a couple of days ago my wife went round to the local chippy and text me to say "do you fancy a pie and chips?" Last year, I would have thought "sod it, why not!" But on this occasion I said no. But she text me again to say "Sure?" (she knows me so well, lol). But I said "nope!"
When she returned home with her aromatic fish & golden chips in wrapping paper, I did feel pangs on hunger and envy. But I stuck to my home made chicken curry, and felt quite pleased with myself that I had managed to resist temptation.
It's the same when my wife and I go shopping or shop online. I no longer feel the need to buy crisps, beers, chocolates etc that I once did. And to be honest shopping online is preferred because you're less likely to impulse-buy compared to being in a supermarket.
Still a long way to go of course, and I've been here before. But I think things will be different this year. More so given that we're moving house very soon, and a different part of the country where things aren't quite so hectic and crazy.

Another year another overall weight gain. Was doing so well earlier in 2018, but I think it all fell apart come the summer months and I was drinking a bottle or two of beer per day along with takeaways and the usual junk.
No point in repeating what I have said previous on here at this time of year: less talk more walk! Next weigh-in will be Saturday 12th. The target will be 15st rather than the current 15st 4.
Interestingly, however, we will soon be moving to the Lake District - a slower pace of life with plenty of opportunities for sightseeing and long walks. Just the kind of thing that will help me get the weight off once and for all.
Just do it!
