I have been a fairly strict very low sodium diet (<2000mg/daily) for over ten years. About a month ago, I started on a ketogenic diet (very low carbs <10%/high fat >75%). The diet is going well, lost 15 lbs, feel food. As I continued to do research, one issue kept popping up -- how this kind of diet can delete salt stores. I thought well that is okay because I want to restrict my salt. but what I didn't count on is the impact when you are already eating low sodium -- I developed the symptoms -discussed headaches, etc. Last night after the second day, I decided to take a dosage of "sodium". I had no salt, most of food is low sodium -- finally, I fried up 3 ounces of pork sausage that my son had in the frig. I woke up feeling much better. Think I am going to add an extra 500 mg of sodium to my diet. lol who would of thought
