Losing 0.1 kg a Week
06 September 2014
Lost a couple of pounds over the last couple of weeks. No change in diet but exercise regime continues to be a combo of jogging (stamina), stretch, flex & upper body strength. So hopefully the slowdown in weight loss can be attributed to fat becoming muscle, which I believe is denser than fat, and thus may weigh the same but offers a far more shapely body :)

Losing 0.9 kg a Week
23 August 2014
Put 4 pounds on over the last couple of weeks. Can't say I'm overly surprised as I've been indulging for 3 or 4 days with the arrival of the inlaws. So all that careful calorie-counting went well & truly out of the window!
However, I would also like to think this weight-gain is also because of fat turning to muscle now that I've been following a strength & flex regime courtesy of the NHS over the last month!
Even though the scales say I've put on 4 pounds, it doesn't "feel" like I have. I can still slip into new, smaller-sized clothes just as well; and perhaps the best indicator of all is my trouser belt. Over the last 4 months of this diet, I've been constantly moving the buckle-pin inwards to the next hole, even to the point of manually drilling new holes to accommodate my weight loss. Admittedly my belt looks a bit tatty with all these extra holes, and to be fair, I only wear it at home. But just like a tide-mark, or tree rings, my belt clearly shows my steady progress over the months, and I look at that one particular hole - the last hole near the end of the belt, that I used to occupy. And now here I am preparing to drill one last hole before giving up on the belt completely!
Anyway, need to get shed of those 4 unexpected pounds - muscle or otherwise.

Gaining 0.9 kg a Week
09 August 2014
A small little benchmark today: this morning's weight-in resulted in another 2 pound loss, and thus making a total of 30 pounds lost since starting this diet over 3 months ago at the back end of April!
I still have another 11 or 12 pounds left to lose in order to reach my interim target; but to lose a total of 30 pounds in 13/14 weeks feels quite significant, especially when one visualises exactly what 30 pounds looks like, and to realise that that's what I was carrying around as extra baggage at the turn of this year!
As an example, I rummaged through my kitchen cupboards and found a fresh packet of self-raising flour, weighing in at 1.25kgs. 30 pounds works out at at just under 14kgs. So that's equals out to around 11 bags of flour I've subsequently lost!
It's only when you visualise such things that you realise exactly how much you've lost, and how much you've been carrying around. Obviously I don't have 11 bags of flour in my cupboard, but to actually weigh just one in my hand, and then appreciate what a further 10 would weigh like in my hand(s) just makes it even more important it is to lose all this excess burden and give one's heart a rest!
Anyway, there's still plenty of hardwork left to do, but this landmark has encouraged me even more. And my tip to my fellow dieters is to buy a packet of 1.2kg flour (or any other food item of similar weight), and just appreciate the amount of excess bulk you could be losing on a weekly/monthly basis by following a good diet!
Good luck!
