Cajá é uma fruta da cajazeira com nome científico Spondias mombin, também conhecida como cajá-mirim, cajazinha, taperibá, tapareba, taperebá, tapiriba, ambaló ou ambaró.

O cajá é utilizado principalmente para fazer suco, néctares, sorvetes, geleias, vinhos ou licores e como é uma fruta ácida não é comum comer-se ao natural. A variedade cajá-umbú, que resulta do cruzamento entre a cajá e o umbú, é uma fruta tropical do nordeste brasileiro utilizada principalmente na forma de polpa, sucos e sorvetes.

Os principais benefícios da cajá podem ser:

Ajudar a emagrecer, pois tem poucas calorias;
Melhorar a saúde da pele e dos olhos por ter vitamina A;
Combater as doenças cardiovasculares por ter antioxidantes.
Além disso, ajuda também a aliviar a prisão de ventre, principalmente a variedade de cajá-manga, que se encontra mais facilmente na região nordeste do brasil e é rica em fibras.
