I have been doing great this first week and am pretty proud of myself. Yesterday was difficult. My son is in ICU in the hospital, so I stayed at the hospital all day. Trying to choose healthy options in the cafeteria was challenging, but by ordering a hamburger without the bread, having a pre-packaged salad, and opting for turkey sausage, I managed to remain under my calorie goal without feeling hungry. I am back at the hospital again today, so another challenge; accepted, I am confident I can make choices that are right for me!

Day 1
I tried to do a little exercise while watching TV. My legs felt like rubber. I don't know if I am still tired from being under anesthesia yesterday, or just that out of shape. I know tomorrow is filled with virtual conference sessions, but I am going to try to get at least the 1 mile Walk Away the Pounds in before dinner. I don't like exercising after Scott gets home; self-conscious I guess.
I'm not comfortable with the 1800 calories the program suggest. I know the last time I lost weight, I kept it under 1000 calories each day. Maybe if I keep it less than 1500 each day, I can lose weight and be healthy.
I am trying to use the items we have in the freezer and pantry, but we do not have much in the way of healthy options. It is frustrating knowing the food choice I will make is not the best thing for me. However, I cannot afford to throw away food and just go purchase more. The lifestyle change has to be a part of me when I go to the grocery store, which means I will need a food plan for the week so I only purchase what I need.
What to do about the lack of water and addiction to diet soda? I do not have a plan yet. I do like the filtered water from the fridge, but I get such a horrible headache if I skip the caffeine. In addition, I cannot sleep if I do not have some caffeine before bedtime. I think I will make some tea with Splenda tomorrow (or tonight) and see if that is enough caffeine to help with the ADD at night.
Overall, a successful day. I painted the trim in the craft room, scooped the litter boxes, swept the mud-room, cooked dinner, and did the dishes. I also rode with Scott on the bike to Willoughby and watched two PBIS videos. Yep, not a bad day at all.
