I went to a very good lecture given by a dietician the other day. My friend and I and one other person were the slimmest in the room. There were 10 others who were either overweight or very overweight and a couple of them spoke of how perfectly they ate. Unbelievable!
Anyway, the dietician made a very good case for anyone with a weight problem to get a referral from their doctor to see a licensed dietician rather than spending money on Jenny Craig or whatever. She also stressed that eating the old "well balanced diet" is the best way to go AND she said that we ALL eat far too much SUGARS and that means not just sweet stuff but carbohydrates and also we should try to reduce our gluten intake. AND we should stop eating processed foods and read the labels on everything we buy. If there are ingredients we do not recognize they are likely chemicals used as preservatives and they are BAD FOR US.
She also spoke at length about Type 3 Diabetes which has been discovered to be related to Alzheimers. I obviously at 135 do not have a weight problem but stay with this site just to keep things that way but I am going to see her privately (I am a Canadian now in Florida so cannot get a referral) to find out just what is the perfect diet for me from now on in at age 76 to protect me against Diabetes and Dementia.
I play tennis every day, swim lengths at least once a day and ride my bike rather than drive to activities in my 55+ Florida park so I am very active, as is the younger friend who went to the lecture with me. I honestly do not think that any of those 10 women at the talk could do more than walk to the mailbox and that is part of their problem.
I will write about my session with the dietician probably after I get back from my upcoming 3 week trip to india.

I am eating 1/2 cup bran buds with 1 % milk plus a piece of fruit e,g, a peach right now or sometimes grapefruit or a few stewed prunes for breakfast.
For lunch I am eating lightly cooked greens I like a mix of broccoli and brussell sprouts best
Normal dinner with no bread if I can avoid it and more veggies than meat etc. Often fish AND no dessert
I am slowly dropping the pounds and keeping them off and this is so easy to follow
No night snacks!

I would like to get down to 135 lbs and think IO can do that with only coffee, bran buds and prunes for breakfast, a veggie lunch and normal dinner. Try this for a couple of weeks anyway
