I am now 48 hours in on this new adventure called Diabetes, and now that the shock is pretty much over and my brain is about to explode from information overload, I am feeling more and more confident that I can slay this beast! The internet is a beautiful thing you know. Have now given myself 2 doses of insulin (although it sure doesn't look like any is missing from the pen), and testing my waking sugar 2 days in a row. First test was 226, today's was 224 -- so down is good, right?
When drastically overboard on calories yesterday, altho I am no sure I am going to worry about that too much right now. More, I have to worry about nailing my carbs/fats/proteins. I will let the calories land where they land as I get myself really into the groove of sticking pure.
But here's the sucky thing: I adjusted my "diet plan name" here to reflect that I am doing LCHF/Keto, and entered the date of Jul 1 as my start -- and my true starting weight got adjusted to ToDAYS weight! So my chart doesn't show that I've already lost like 8 lbs!! Grrrrrrr....not happy about that -- it makes it look like I've NOT lost any weight. This is also gonna mess up my challenges I bet, blech!

There, I said it out loud.
Yes, it has been an interesting week for ole MamaGroot. Went to the doctor on Wed for annual check-in, slip to get bloodwork, sign for my renewal of my H tags. Thursday morning get the blood draws; Thurs at 5 p.m. doc is calling my house leaving a message. Call to doc early Friday morning and by 9 a.m., my world is turned upside down: blood sugar so high, he wants me in the office RIGHT NOW to discuss treatment options! WTH?
Yep. Game changer for sure, and off I go into the wide world of insulin injections, blood sugar monitoring and ???.
So ya, that was my week. In other news, weight stayed the same; I was not 100% on plan -- had a few high carby meals/days. Blech. Now though, I have more reason than EVER to stick with this like a wild woman. Too much out there says that LCHF is the way to deal with blood sugars, and I am NOT gonna follow the nurse advice of eating 50g of carbs per meal/15g per snack....noper nope.
Good thing I already was re-committing to myself, because I am worth it!
