Losing 1.3 kg a Week
03 November 2015
I am up a couple pounds as I am still working out this maintenance plan. I had a stretch when the only things that sounded good to me to eat were some variation of bread and cheese--pizza, cheese burritos, cheesy garlic bread, etc., etc. Not quite the diet I have become accustomed to and it shows on the scale, especially in combination with the reduction in exercise when my back went wonky.
I have been making a much better effort to eat well and get more exercise for the past week. My mom arrives for her visit today and so I am going to have to be dedicated to keep this going. I did go on a five mile hike up and down a mountain this morning with a friend--Mom's not a hiker so I don't know when I'll next be able to hit the trails. I got to the gym yesterday, getting in some cardio and some lifting.
I know it is only a few pounds, but I want to stay mindful so I don't veer off in the wrong direction. I am so proud of the way I handled Halloween--a bit of candy that evening, then none since. I have not even felt tempted by my kids' candy bags, which is a nice surprise. With all of the other holidays that lie ahead, I need to keep my head in the game and stay with the way of eating that has gotten me here. I think I am finally getting over the psychological jolt that hitting my goal weight gave me and I am getting back on course to stay healthy and strong.

Gaining 0.3 kg a Week

Is there anyway I can "forget" how to make a carrot cake? My son requested one for his birthday, right on the heels of the carrot cake that my kids baked when we had company the weekend previous. I was pretty good about moderation with the first cake, but not so much with this latest one. (My family is just not eating it fast enough! :) ) At least I have not opened the big bag of Halloween candy yet!
I have recovered from my back problems of last week and have found my way back to the gym. I have not been pushing myself too hard, as I don't want a relapse, but I have been getting my cardio in and some weights. I am feeling better and should be fully back into the swing of things over the weekend.
I have a hiking date tomorrow with my friend who is always up for a challenge, so that will be a nice way to end the week. I love having someone who pushes me to go farther and keeps up a good pace. We are well matched on the trails. :)
My Mom is coming out for a visit next week. We have always spent a lot of time going out to eat breakfast or lunch while she is here, but I am going to have to be careful with that. She is pretty easy to please and I am sure we can find a happy medium. She is also game for spending time at the gym with me, so maybe we can earn our meals out!

Hello my friends,
I have not been on FS much in the past week or so. I have not even been logging my food, although I have been doing pretty well. It is a good feeling to know that I can self-regulate. :) I have not always made the best choice, but I have made balanced choices and that is what it all comes down to.
My back went out on Sunday and I have been pretty miserable due to that. Walking has been fine, but the rest of my exercise program has been set aside until I feel up to it again. But, I did go on a six mile hike with a friend this morning, so I am getting plenty of walking in!
We have had a house guest for the past week, but we have mostly had home cooked meals. That is so much easier for me than eating out all the time.
I hope you are all have a wonderful day.
