Happy new year to one and all.

Oh well it had to come – The New Year and with it the end of my excuse to be off piste. I’m now evaluating the damage. A weight gain of 1.7 Kilos doesn’t sound too much, even in good old pounds and ounces, (3lb 12 ounces). I’m hoping it’s mainly a water gain, but that’s still a lot of water.

In 2017 I’ve decided not to be too strict with myself on the LCHF diet, while I work toward my target weight of 80 Kilos, but over the last two weeks I have really enjoyed having carbs back on the menu.

I must admit the changes have been really noticeable. Pre-Xmas I was looking for my leather punch to put an extra hole in my belts. Now I don’t need to, instead I have had to loosen my belts by one notch. Carbs taste great, but oh dear they are so deliciously addictive. In the pub the pints slipped down easily and that Belgian chocolate Xmas log served with double cream was dreamy. I managed to limit myself to one slice at a time, but it was a real battle of my wills, good versing bad. Not limiting myself with the roast potatoes which were now back on the menu, a couple of times I exceeded my RDA by nearly 1000 calories in a day - opps.

I noticed a couple of hypos as my sugar levels spiked and then crashed. Falling asleep after a meal was all too easy. I didn’t realise that going back to carb burning would also cause me to feel a touch of Keto flu, but for just a couple of days and that soon passed. Now I need to get back into the Keto zone.

I know my two weeks off LCHF could have been a lot worse, but I managed to stick loosely to my exercise regime. I did feel somewhat sluggish and lacked the energy I found without the carbs. My usual two hour Thursday gym session slipped to 1.5 hours. I just couldn’t face the extra 30 mins. Hopefully if it doesn’t snow I’ll get back into my exercise regime.

Finally a happy Kittymas photo.
To cater for my brood of moggies I order their kitty food in bulk. When the delivery crate arrived I opened the box and Rio - my Boss cat decided there and then, “The boxes all had his picture on the front of the packs, therefore they were all his!” I couldn’t resist snapping this photo.
