The secret to my weight loss is:
1. Giving in to the fact that weight loss is a FOREVER thing. I will always have to watch what I eat and exercise for the rest of my life (on earth) if I want to stay healthy.
2. Decide on a weight loss program and stick with whatever works for you.
3. Find an exercise program and exercise according to what you can do at first and then progress.
I went with a combination weight loss program, weight watcher/biggest loser. Weight watchers has a plan where you count points and for some reason I just “got it”. I tweaked the plan a little so that I can do it without having to think about it. What I do that’s different than what they do is they have a card that tells you exactly how many points certain foods have. I don’t use the card…I just count a point for every 50 calories. When I first started this point counting thing I thought that I was eating too much. I broke it up so that I could eat throughout the day. I get 24 points a day and after those 24 points is gone I don’t eat anymore. Breakfast 5 points, Snack 2 points, lunch 5 pts, snack 2 pts, supper 5 pts, snack 2 pts, after I exercised I had 3 points. When I first started the point system I wrote everything down that I ate so that I could keep track of it. Eating out for me had to be planned before I went out so I would go online and check the menu and then I would go to my-calorie-counter.com to see what everything counted as.
I exercise twice a day when I don’t get called into work early. Once in the morning and once at night for 30 minutes and that includes warm up and cool down. I bought several exercise DVD’s but the one that works for me is the biggest loser workouts because they have different levels. I did level one for 10 days then level 2 for ten days, etc. When I first started out doing their workouts I wasn’t able to do the whole thing but I did what I could and progressed until I did the whole workout without stopping. Don’t get down on yourself if you can’t do the full 30-minute workout or if you can’t do a certain exercise. Personally I had a hard time doing jumping jacks so I ran in place and still did my arms like a regular jumping jack. Now I can do the jumping jacks.
I have tried many diet plans, including diet pills (they don’t work…if they did Oprah Winfrey would’ve already had the market). This is what worked for me.
