oberon5k's Journal, 26 Jun 11

Been a bit since I wrote a journal entry, so I thought I'd take a minute and get caught up. So, the Doctor thinks my feet may be hurting due to a neurology issue, probably originating from my lower back. Oddly enough, my back doesn't hurt at all, but if I stand for long periods of time, my right upper-leg begins to go numb, which is obviously from a nerve getting compressed somewhere. Prescribed me some more NSAID and told me to see a Neurologist. I guess I will have to "shop" around at work this week and get a recommendation for a good one.
After that one time of my foot acting up, it hasn't anymore since, even with the new exercise program I started. I joined a gym fairly close to where I work, and signed up for a personal trainer. I met several available trainers, but one guy stuck out. He is into MMA as well and said he kinda pushes his clients fairly hard. Since that is exactly what I was looking for, perfect. I have done two 1-hour training sessions with him so far, and I am convinced he is trying to kill me. Lol, not really, but he wasn't lying when he said his sessions are intense and he likes to push. I only purchased a three-pack of sessions, as I wanted to make sure I liked it before I sunk a good chunk of change into something I would end up not using. I do like it, and he keeps me motivated, so I am going to get a 20-pack of sessions tomorrow. My bank account won't like it, but hopefully my body will (after it's initial hatred of it as well)!
He wasn't thrilled about my MEDI diet, but after careful consideration, I decided that I wanted to still stay with them and try to juggle both. I discussed this with my trainer (Jake) and he agreed to let me do it, with his only real concern is with me eating so few carbs, my blood sugar may bottom out and I could faint, hit my head, die, etc. I told him I want to try combining both for 2 weeks, and if no issues arise, I would continue. If anything weird happens, I would drop the weight-loss center and concentrate on the diet that HE usually gives to his clients. His is a typical "healthy" diet, so I am hoping I can handle the ultra-low carb/ketosis diet combined with intense workout sessions 3 days a week (Mon-Weds-Fri) with 30 mins of cardio on every other day of the week. We'll see!
Going out to a "party-type" get together at a friend who happens to own a comic book shop tonight. He throws get-togethers about once a month, locks the door and lets everyone drink beer, mingle, play games, buy stuff, etc. Tonight is a hot-dog eating contest, dangit. 6 hotdogs and 4 beers, first one to finish wins (bragging rights only, I assume) As much as I feel I could win, alas, I am going to resist the temptation to join in and only cheer people on. I want to get to my goal too much, and since I was horrible on my diet for the last 3 weeks (my numbers show it) I finally got back into ketosis on Friday, and I HAVE GOT TO get another run going like the first 17 weeks I was going to MEDI. Having lost 87 lbs. so far is good, but with another 80 or so to go, the food-gorging contests will have to wait (for now, MUHAHAHAHAHA!)
Well, I wrote more than I thought I would. I will try to be more frequent with my journaling, AS IF anyone is reading this, that is..
