It seems that strictly speaking in numbers, I would need to maintain a 1000 calorie per day calorie deficit to lose 8 pounds in a month. Yikes. The days I don't work out at all I can't eat more than 1200 calories to maintain that. Oh well, I guess I will see, there's no stopping now.

My first short term goal is to lose five pounds, which will put me back into the 180's. My first long term goal is to get down into the 170's.
