Loosing muscles instead of fat very common. If you have less 1g of protein to 1kg of your body weight in your diet, guess where body will get it from..? Yes, your muscles! And will store your fat..

And eating more carbs and fats than your body needs leads to put on fat. So, you loose muscles and put on fat.

Thank you so much! So cut out too many carbs and fats? I’ve been trying to eat good fats but clearly that’s not helping
