Something of a shock. Four days in on the diet (and mind you, I'm not doing this as seriously as my wife) and I'm down one pound. For losing weight it appears to work well. However, I get completely exhausted when exercising and I was about ready to collapse at my kickboxing class last night. So the downside is that you take a big, big hit on your energy levels. We won't mention the other side effects of eating mostly protein and limited carbs...
So, I'm going to stick with carb limiting, but not to the extreme that I've been trying. I think the biggest thing to avoid is sugars. 4.2 grams of sugar is equal to one teaspoon. In the US, with all the high fructose corn syrup, sugar, barley malt, carbitol (and there are about 80 other types of sugar, I kid you not) we have an average of 20 teaspoons per day. I think my goal is to have fewer than 10 teaspoons per day (i.e. less than 40 grams). If I can manage that and eat, say, fewer than 100 grams of carbs per day that should just about do it.

It's really good for quick losses, but you may want to consider having a high carb meal once a week to top off your energy reserves. Still, if it ain't broke...

Yeah, maybe a high carb day on Tuesday and Thursday, which happen to be my highest calorie burn days.

HFCS is such a detrimment to everyone's diet so good job on identifying it and limiting it. I'm a have t read up on the rest of this new diet your following and see what might work for me.

Splendid, just look at my food journal. It gives you an idea of what I'm having. Carbs are from whole grains, brown rice, fruit, vegetables, etc. Seems to be working, this morning I weighed in at 184.5.
