Whew! still chugging down the mountain! With the little ones at school, I can count my carbs more easily. FS does all that for me, but I do have a knowledge of what's a carb and not. But why do they put carbs in meat and veggies when there are none except in starchy veggies?

I would think (warning: speculation) that if the cows eat grain, there would be trace carbs in the meat we eat?

Sugar is a carb - some meats have natural sugars, so the carbs come from that.

Tracking everything I eat in FS has taught me soooooo much about nutrition. Scallops' sugarload was a complete shocker, very eye-opening. For a while I was restricting leafy greens and things like zucchini and broccoli, to keep my net carbs down, but I'm easing up on that, one because I need the nutrients, two because weighing lettuce was a) starting to feel like I was controlling too much, drifting into shades of orthorexia, and b) the actual physical coordination of those additional steps had an insanely low ROI.

Naturally occurring meats have no carbs. Deli meats/cooked meats/packaged meats sometimes do...

We need a net carb tracker - fiber doesn't count! I am using the Atkins carb tracker app as well as FatSecret, to track net carbs. When limiting to 20 g net carbs daily, got to watch any that sneak in!

@gz9gjg in the iPhone app at least, I'm not sure about the others, you can change your view in the diary portion to "list" and it will give you net carb on the header and for each meal and item.

Under options at the bottom of the diary screen where you are recording your food. It may be the same on the android and pc. I don't know.🤷🏻‍♀️
