Granby9995's Journal, 04 Nov 23

September weight training was getting the firewood in so I could spend October in Spain with my wonderful daughter.  Now I am back to bleak November weather, not cold or snowy enough to ski, but too frosty to ride my bike.  Hiking is still good though. I started with Fatsecret in April and it is the first time I have felt successful losing weight.  For me, I think that is because I read posts everyday and I find them supportive, informative, and motivating.  When I started, I logged all my food and exercise.  I looked at other people's food and exercise diaries to see what worked for them and tried to incorporate some of that into my plan.   My new goal is to lose that last stubborn pound and maintain my weight until next April.  I want to maintain my exercise schedule of weight training one morning and yoga the next.  I am not logging in food or exercise, but I am weighing myself everyday and planning on recording my weight once a week.  If I find that I am slipping, I will go back to logging in food and exercise. (really might need to do that closer to Christmas!) Just needed to write this down to keep me accountable.  Good luck everyone, I hope you find the Fatsecret community as helpful as I do.

Congrats on your weight journey and your trip, looks like you got a mighty fine Ford N series antique tractor there, they are a favorite of my hubby's!

Thanks! The tractor is an antique but a workhorse, keeping it running is my guy's hobby :)

When i was growing up we heated our house with the fireplace and there was always a stack taller than my very tall dad runnin the width of our house. We had many many weekends chopping and stacking wood. My dad worked for a lumber mill and we would often take the cast off trees. Dad was 6’3 and starting when i was probably 7 or 8 he would throw the logs that were to be split into firewood at me. I also started splitting wood when i was 14. Along with pulling weeds, etc. always active probably why i never had a weight problem as a youngster. Im sure there are still kids that grow up that way but ive never met even one. It’s a lot of work.

Thanks everyone! We've used wood for the last 35+ years to heat our house. It is work, but getting firewood is a lovely way to spend a fall day. Happy Sunday!
