I am calorie counting, keeping within, exercising (ran 5k today !) & yet still put weight on. How / why ? :(
89.8 kg Lost so far: 4.5 kg.    Still to go: 23.1 kg.    Diet followed: Reasonably Well.

Muscles!!

Hey, just thought I might help you with that, since I've been there. When we both train and calories count we go through a process called body recomposing which means that while our weight on the scale might not go down or even go up, we are actually loosing fat mass and replacing it with muscle mass. Now 1kg of fat is much bigger than 1kg of muscle and for this reason another way of keeping track of your progress is measuring yourself with the measuring tape. For example at a certain point in my weight loss journey I was walking a lot but I noticed my weight not moving down although I was in a calories deficit, fortunately I had taken my waist, hips, tights and arms measurements a month ago so I went and measured myself again:1 inch off the hips, 2 inches off the waist and 1 inch off the tights! That's how I knew I was still making progress, I was getting leaner as my measurements were going down but my weight wasn't moving because I had replaced it with muscle mass.
