I took about a month off of tracking. I didn't seem to gain, but also didn't really lose. I needed the mental break honestly because I was noticing some thoughts that I didn't feel were healthy. I'm still not tracking, but I am loosely aware of the calories I'm consuming.

Some people work very hard to quantify and record every calorie consumed and expended. They are obsessed with the numbers. But there is a difference between precision and accuracy. One can be very precise and at the same time inaccurate. I make a lot of ballpark estimates and sometimes keep a running total without recording. This approach is akin to lobbing a hand grenade--just get close. I guess I'm in your camp on this one. It works for me.

It was a very good idea to take a break. We have very useful tools, but only as long as we're in control of them, and not vice versa. =) Good job with your ballparking though!
