McFletcher's Journal, 21 Sep 19

I am a terrible...actually, make that great procrastinator. It's been 2919 days since my last weigh-in and entry. Things really have to change, especially now that I'm over 50 years old. I want to be in better health and have a better quality of life as I move into my golden years :)

I have been struggling most of my life with my weight. It has been a roller coaster of highs and lows since I hit puberty. I am Type 2 diabetic and I have high blood pressure and I'm on 8 medications. At my heaviest I was 235 lbs...that was 2 years ago. Two years ago was when I "retired" from a job I'd had for 19years. Within 4 months I had dropped 25 lbs and was starting to feel great. It was the difference of sitting at a desk for 19 years to working a part-time job where I was constantly moving. I changed jobs again but it was to something even more physical and I dropped another 20 lbs. My blood sugars were getting better and my blood pressure was going down. Within 5 months of working at this new company, they asked if I wanted to fill in for someone going on maternity leave and I said yes. I knew I could do it well and I had the experience. Again it was a desk job and 7 months later I find I've gained back 20 lbs, my blood sugars are up, my blood pressure is up, and I've added another medication to my long list.

The procrastination needs to end and I need to take getting healthy seriously. I want to be around for a long time to enjoy life with my family, especially when grand-kids eventually come along.

Today I start my new journey...wish me luck!

https://www.ted.com/talks/tim_urban_inside_the_mind_of_a_master_procrastinator/transcript?language=en You might find this interesting. And it’s funny. But I find the concepts helpful in my own procrastination :)

There’s a member here keyten77, she was able to reverse her t2d now off medications. Her posts have practical info on this.
