Yeah fluctuations are so normal and we cannot always know why we are retaining water. Keep on with your plan

Out of curiosity, when/how do you weight yourself and how regular are your BMs (that last one is pretty personal) :) I weight myself first thing in the morning after going pee and only in my underwear. It’s the most stable time of day to weight. Otherwise a drink, a shower, different clothes can all throw it off. Also, if you’re not regular, then that can also make your scales fluctuate. If it’s not that, try checking your scale. Weight yourself. Grab 10 lb weights and weight yourself again. Put them down and weight yourself. Was your scale accurate? Those are the three main potential culprits I can think of :)

I fluctuate when I eat a salty meal. The next couple of days my weight is up a pound or two but then drops back after a couple of days. A hot humid day can send fluid retention up and some medications can affect water retention.
I weigh myself every morning and evening 'cause I find it interesting to see my weight-change throughout the day. Daily weighing keeps me on track a bit like using a step counter.

Even after menopause, it seems the cycle of water retention for a week is the same.

I’m doing mine every two weeks now. On my final 5lbs. Crossing fingers for next Friday!
