I understand. I was so sad when my dad died 3 years ago, I just let myself gain 20 pounds. But I had his love of health and exercise help me to honor him by taking care of my diet and getting back into shape. I am still working on it, I have 30 or 40 pounds to lose, but I am down 20 from the high a few years ago. Good luck, it's not easy.

Hi there. I'm sorry about your Mom. My mom died last year too and I gained about 40 pounds back. It wasn't until January that I was able to decide that I needed to get back to my eating plan for the sake of my own health. I had to go to counseling to talk about her death. That helped a lot. Journal your feelings about your Mom. Another thing that helped was making very reasonable exercise and eating goals. Start slow with walking a few days a week. Don't try to lose weight, try to maintain. Pick an eating plan you can live with and try to just stick with it awhile but not with a weight loss goal - just a maintenance goal. I don't know if you are binge eating or not, but if you are you need to figure out a way to stop that before you can think about weight loss. Try to limit the number of times a day you are doing that. Write down what you are feeling and where you are when you are binge eating / overeating. I know you can do it! Come back here often for support.

I know losing Mom is really tough, my mother passed 5 years ago too. To get through my days I tell myself that my mother wants me to take care of myself and to enjoy life and to stop grieving. I imagine if I were to be gone and I would want my kids to continue on with their life and be happy. Got to keep going and be busy with things you enjoy, take care of yourself.

Its hard to stay focused when life throws terrible things at you, but just know that you can do this. Losing someone you love, especially a parent, is hard. You never truly get over it, it just gets easier to live with day by day. You will overcome, you are stronger than you think right now. Let us hold you up for a while, take your time, then get back up and get it! You can do it!

Memories keep us going. My mom passed over 15 years ago and somethings will trigger her memory. We all have to move on to make memories for others. You need to take deep breaths. The FS family is supportive. The fact that you are verbalizing this is a great big step..... Now, think of what YOU WANT TO DO.

I know the struggle. My kids moved out and keeping up my motivation to make money and be healthy and fit again is escaping me. I feel like I need to find something to live for again, to be excited for living again. I know working out will help my endorphins and my weight, but how do get myself to go! Honestly, I'm at a loss like you ..... I know it comes down to loving ourself, but doing that is another thing!

Start today anew! Everyday is a new start! I do emotional eating too, what can we replace the eating with? emotional working out, emotional art, emotional work... ?
