The best laid schemes of mice and men etc......so yesterdays fast day went out the window when a good friend at work announced his wife had their first baby on Sunday, so cakes etc were the order of the day, and wouldn't you know it there was my all time favourite that's just impossible to walk past - caramel cheesecake from the Cheesecake Shop. I made an arbitrary decision to switch fast days to today. Damn you Cheesecake Shop !Even allowing for that the rest of the day came in below a 'normal' eating day so its all good.

Hi all, yep I'm back (can't get rid of me that easy :) Ive been back from my fishing trip a few days, but what with one thing and another - the work fairy didn't come in while I was away so stuff piled up on me - and finishing my holidays means I didn't weigh in or write journals until now. I will weigh in officially tomorrow (today is a fast day) but I know over the weekend I am back down to around what I was before I went 'up North' though I know I would have put on a couple of kilo's or three while away. I did learn one important lesson - don't attempt a fast day on boat fishing in a pitching, heaving sea - lets just say the sea wasn't the only thing heaving :)
So yes I ate all the wrong things, drank way too much but did have a ball, and landed my first ever Black Marlin, and its true to say most fisherman can go their whole lives and not land one so I feel quite proud. It must be said though that the one I got was a small one as Marlin go, but as you can see by the smile on my face that didn't matter; either way, big or small it was being tagged and released unharmed, and after a fantastic leaping jumping twisting and turning fight it deserved to live to fight another day. I had a great time with three other great guys, stayed in a lovely house in the Marina, fished from a beautiful boat I can only dream of owning, and ate and drank very very well - what more could I ask for.
So I hope everyone is well, I will try to catch up with journals and hope that someone will tell me anything important I missed.
Steve
