According to my neighbor's scale, I've lost about 9 lbs (I know my profile says that I was 215 to start, but it was actually 218. When I signed up for this site, I guessed my weight because I don't have a scale in the house. Then I went over to my buddy's house and the fact that I had guessed 3 lbs too low was revealed.) but according to my clothes, nothing has changed...which is kind of a disappointment, but eh. I know the loose-pants-euphoria is just around the corner, and I'm patient. I know it's not all just gonna fall off. =D

Jimmy John's unwiches are a godsend. If you've got a Jimmy John's around you and you're on SB - duuuuude. You have to order them the healthy way, of course (hold the mayo and one of the two slices of cheese) but they are delicious.

I did kinda fall off the wagon a little bit earlier. My boyfriend's father found and ate ALL of my unsalted peanuts, and I was kinda SOL for a midafternoon snack @ work today. I noticed that we had some trail mix in one of the vending machines - unsalted nuts with raisins and M & M-like chocolates. I told myself I'd remove the raisins and the chocolate and leave only the nuts. Well, I took all the raisins out...and half of the chocolates. The fact that I had thrown away chocolate made me sad, so I ate the other half (which was the equivalent of 5 M&Ms). I don't think it's a huge derailment, but I should have been firmer in my will power to not eat the chocolates. It was a mental defeat, I guess. I said I'd do something, and I didn't do it. Ah well - all I can do about it now is learn from it.

I need to get on the excercising, though. I take my dog on a walk every day, but that's not enough. Any suggestions?

So far, so good. On day four of phase one, and I really don't miss bread as much as I thought that I would. I need to buy a scale so I can track my progress - for now I think I'm just gonna go on how my clothes fit me.

I've only strayed once, and ate like, 45 peanuts instead of the recommended 15. It was really hard for me to find unsalted peanuts! Aldi has been my saving grace for buying food, but I have been getting pretty redundant with my meals. Soo...I'm gonna have to learn some recipes.

Oh, and the no caffeine thing: is that absolutely essential? I've definitely had about a can of Diet Coke a day. I'm alright with the low-carb stuff and the no alcohol - but I definitely require caffeine.

My boyfriend was talking to one of his coworkers about South Beach and they told him that it gives you some digestive issues (I won't mention what they called it because it was gross) - has anyone else heard / experienced that? That makes me kinda nervous.

Sooo...hello fatsecret. My name is Heide - I'm a 22 year old student/call center employee in Kansas City. I decided to join fatsecret because I'll be honest: I really can't do the whole diet thing alone. I've always been a "big" girl, but I've let myself get too big. I'm 5'11, and currently weigh 215, which is 10 lbs. less than my all time high weight of 225. I weighed 225 a couple years ago and did the Abs diet with success and got myself down to 185 (still "overweight" for my height according to BMI). I kept it off until I started working for Einstein Bros. Bagels in 07. One free meal and all the free bagels that you want from Einstein Bros. will kill any hopes of dieting. I decided I had to do SOMETHING when my three favorite pairs of shorts all committed suicide in the course of two weeks.

I decided to go with the South Beach diet for the cardiovascular benefits. Went out and bought all the stuff for my first week today. I think that having a job with scheduled breaks is going to help (at Einstein Bros, I had one fifteen minute break no matter how long my shift was and I tended to overeat because it was my only opportunity to eat in a 8-12 hour period). So...yeah! First day of my diet is tomorrow, so wish my fat ass luck! =D
