Holding steady. No weight lost this week. I hope going in the pool for exercise will make a differencenext week.

Slowly I am losing weight and slowly I am making progress fitting into my clothes better. I have to wait 2 more weeks before I can go in the pool and exercise there. I hope it will help my pounds come off faster. I had cataract surgery recently so that’s why I have to wait. In the mean time I mostly walk. I have made some progress with sticking to asking myself if I’m physically hungry.i mostly eat chicken or fish for dinner. I only eat red meat once a week. I also eat vegetables and salad with these meals and rarely eat potatoes, pasta or rice..For lunches and breakfast I mostly alternate between low fat cottage cheese,, fat free plain Greek yogurt and oatmeal . I mix blueberries or other berries on sale and prunes, trip of vanilla and dash of cinnamon mixed in. Occasionally I have cheese sticks with an apple or applesauce or left over salad and tuna or chicken salad. It might seem boring to you but for me it gives me control. The choices I’ve picked are those I actually like. I eat a cookie or some nuts once in a while. I try to save dessert for special occasions and limit what I eat. I supplement my nutrition with vitamins and minerals and I have a nutritional shake every few days as a meal substitute. I avoid artificial sweeteners like they are a plague. If I go out to eat, I look up the menu on the web and pre pick what I’m going to order. I’m not embarrassed to ask for some items to be be prepared the way I need to have them for me to eat. I tell the wait staff I am allergic to whatever. And lastly, I never put salt on anything and I ask for no added salt in my food if I’m not cooking myself. So that’s my plan and I am trying to stick to it. Thank you all for your support! It takes a village to loose weight and you are my village!

Mindful eating!
I am trying to think before I eat. I am asking myself if I am physically Hungry? Or am I bored? Or thirsty? Or do I just have a craving? Am I sad? Worried ? Does my tummy feel full? Do I really need nutrition? Am I really hungry?
I am also trying to eat slower. I am trying to chew my food and concentrate on just that.. This is hard. I’ve heard that it takes 20 minutes for the brain to know your stomach is full so I am attempting to eat slower so recognize that I no longer need to eat.
Holidays are hard. But I need to loose a pound a week to stay on track.

I am sure everyone is having a hard time avoiding eating all of the holiday treats. I had a small holiday gathering yesterday and I did allow myself one small piece of my daughter’s birthday cake. Strawberry shortcake. It was really good. I didn’t want to be tempted with the leftovers cake so today I gave away the rest to a friend that couldn’t be at the party. I am trying very hard to lose at least one pound a week. I can only do that by eating well under the RDI do I take vitamins and minerals to supplement my nutrition. Have a great week!
