Cheated a bit last night as a young friend came over to see me: nothing hungrier than a trainee solicitor! Ate come raspberries for desert and very good they were too. However, as I had completed a 6 mile walk the day before and propose another one today I refuse to feel guilty. Shall pick up some fish on the way home for a change of protein.

Think I am be entering ketosis. Yesterdays creamy meal seems to have done it: urine has a sharpo metallic odour which I recall from last time I did Atkins. I feel well,almost hyper, as I did last time. Protein/fat diets boost the production of hormones says Phil the Pharmacist so perhaps its that. However, I note that despite yesterdays long walk my joints aren't painful this morning. It may be the glorious high pressure weather but I am beginning to wonder if Atkins doen't make me leave out something to which I am sensitive. Lactose? Gluten? Who cares if the pain levels are down. Back to the forest adn another long walk.

Lovely day so 1.5hrs walk in the forest after b&Egg breakfast. Supermarket run for steak, chicken, mushrooms, salad, cream, nuts etc. Tried to find a 0 carb drink which did not contain aspartane but no luck despite them all saying no added sugar or artificial flavourings or sweeteners there it was on the label in small print. Seem unable to get carbs or fat up to required levels so shall cook pork with cream, mustard and mushrooms on a bed of sprue asparagus. That ought to do it.

Well, I let the smoked salmon for breakfast and had an omelette instead with bacon and mushrooms. It still didn't get my carb intake anywhere near the approved amount. Today: shirred eggs in butter and smoked salmon (1.2 carb), salad (0.6), fillet steak (0),dinner is to be chicken and salad. A bit dull but easy. The trouble with dieting is that one expects instant results accompanied by hunger pangs. On day 4 couldn't resist the scales - no discernable change. Perhaps the tum is a bit slacker? Had a run on the beach with dog and football. Still not hungry which either indicates that I am luckier than the rest of the dieters on here or that my metabolic rate is so low that I need to get down to Belsen amounts before I feel anything. I am making no attempt to limit the calories but added up today's using on line calculator and it worked out under 800. I should be bangin' on the bars for the warder, instead I am typing this instead of cooking dinner.

So much for eating a sensible breakfast and a meal every 6 hours. Phone rang whilst I was eating a piece of cheese and working out what the day would hold. Estate agent to say our offered price had been accepted. So rapid ring round then into car to fetch RH, find out about tacker, phone etc, and see Meta. Giggled our heads off as vendor had said to her I was a horrible woman and had told me Meta was mad. Possibly she might have been more tactful about my daughter's Mother and Godmother:)) Also she didn't like Dolifor who are sound as a pound. Then had a sudden horrible thought - she had reported the neighbours as being nice - clearly our tastes were different - perhaps they were horrible. Much reassured to find Meta liked them.
Ate lunch at desk at 4.40 p.m. or perhaps breakfast? Organic chicken, bacon and salad. That seems to get me to 5g if I over allow on carbs. What on earth shall I have for dinner to get the carbs and fat up? It really would be easier if I liked puddings so that I could have something to miss...I've got some organic oak smoked salmon but that, apparently, has 0 carbs. I'm sure I ought to be stressed and ravenous but I'm not. Perhaps I shall have to follow DrA's lead and drink a carton of cream.
