One year ago...
I was slowly killing myself.
I looked down at the scale and saw 286 pounds.
I thought, how did this happen? who can I blame?
I was ashamed and empowered.
The next day I started working out.
Eating better.
I quit drinking soda.
I took control of my life and placed blame where it needed to be faced: On myself.
I am not saying it was easy.
But it was something that I had to do so I didn't end up 52 with a heart attack like my father or dead at 61 from a heart attack like his father.
I finally faced my weight demons and began to work through them, because no matter how it looks... weight is not just a physical issue.
I started gaining weight in the 4th grade. By the time I was in the 7th grade, I was already in the 200's. By the time I was in the 9th grade, I was 250. I let my weight take control of me. Used food to deal with things that I didn't want to deal with.
That holds alot of emotional weight.
So, I tell you, It can be done.
The journey starts with the step you have to make to decide you want to change your life.
As corny as this sounds, the biggest loser helped me so much. Season 8- I wish I could hug them all and thank them. They motivated me in ways they will never know. Kristin, Tara, and Mandi inspired me and there would be times when I was on that damn treadmill thinking I couldn't do another step and I would think back to something from the show and I would be like, Josh stop bitching and get your ass going.
Thanks to all my friends and family who have listened to me talk about my weight, all the time for the past year.
You guys rock.
Today, I hoped on the scale weighing in at 197 pounds.
89 pounds gone.
I'll take it.
It's funny that it has taken me losing 89 pounds to find myself.
But I am starting to see the man I want to be in the mirror.
and I like him.
no, I love him.

meh.
I made some bad food choices yesterday. I always do that on wednesday even though I know I have a weigh in on thursday.
