Why does time always fly????!!!!

Even more so when your having fun or simply busy?

I wasn't sure if I was coming or going this past few weeks. Especially this week. I had appointments every day after work this week, which wasn't too bad, but then LB got stuck in Scotland and I had to look after 3 dogs on top of it all. But he is back now, I got my snugglebuddy back and hopefully my car will pass its M.O.T this afternoon and then its all good :).

I am going down a new road with my nutrition. I have realized that I do not get enough protein by a long way. But all the protein powders and bars are usually full of sugar and whey. Long and behold I have discovered Hemp protein powder (which only contains hemp protein and nothing but hemp protein which is full of EAAs and not BCAAs) and 9Bars (they still have some sugar in them, but are super delicious ;) ). I started using the powder on Monday and I am suprised how full it keeps me. Usually I am completely famished after a Kettlebell session, not so now. And I felt I had more energy during the workout too! I had a portion in almond milk 2 hours beforehand and I felt great. Bonus!

Had my scan on Tuesday. I do have fibroids, the biggest on is 53x42mm. Completely benign, but if they cause problems they can be treated. I will go and see my doc on Monday to discuss options. Hopefully we find one that puts a hold on the Lady Times.

My daughter is coming down from Edinburgh at the beginning of March. A pamper weekend is already planned at the aquasana. Can't wait :)

Happy Days

Monday:

I was wrong, Lady Times are here to stay. They were back Saturday morning :(

Didn't stop me going picking up for the day anyway. LB was shooting so I took care of the dogs and they worked well for me. Unfortunately the black one brought me a hare back. Boy do they squeal. I didn't know what to do, but luckily there were some more experienced guys about and one took pity on me. The dog just didn't want to release the hare, but he took it by its hindlegs(the hare) and stood on the dogs paw. It did the trick. It was a very poorly hare otherwise my dog would have never been able to catch it.

At the end of the day we had a meal all together: the beaters, the picker upers and the guns. Just to mark the end of the season. And I was so thirsty by then. I think I drank 5 glasses of water in a row. And even the food was more than welcome as it had been a very cold day and I had to hop about the whole time in a feeble atempt to stay warm :).
I went to bed at 9pm and nearly slept for 12 hours.

Yesterday was pretty chilled. I did take my time waking up and didn't get dressed til nearly lunchtime. Breakfast was late, had a cup of coffee with a cheesy scone and a courgette muffin. Lb's daughter and granddaughter came over while I was grooming the dogs. So Lady Hollipop has got 2 nicely clipped paws and 2 slippers ;)

I think I am at my most active late in the afternoon. While LB is always busy in the morning getting his jobs done, I start much later. At least this way he gets to watch his beloved rugby which only puts me to sleep :)

Mum is having more laser surgery on her right eye today. I hope it all goes well!!!!

Friday:

Yeah, the end of the week is here. So is the end of the month and I think my 'Lady Times' have finally left the building too :)

I have just realised that my weekly bacon & sausage baguette is the only thing that I truly eat mindful, slow, savouring every little bite, wrapping it up and putting it away when I had enough. Bizarre. Why can't I do with all the meals I eat???

Went to LBs daughters Arbonne 'launch' party last night. The verdict is still out on that. Sounds a bit too good to be true but surely somebody gets rich with it.....

I was glad that I bought some sushi while we were out shopping ( I ate it in the car). Although she is into fitness and is quite skinny she buys these awful snacks. Crisps, bisquits, chocolate and some ready to eat little sausages, meat balls and sausage rolls.

My hands are still a bit tender from wednesdays Kettlebell session, so I think I will concentrate on some core and stabiliser exercises this afternoon.

Then home, walk the dogs and retire in front of the wood burner :)

Thursday:

LOL....kettlebell was tough last night. One of the girls was leaving to go to Australia for 4 month and James wanted to give her something she wouldn't forget in a while. We picked 5 different excercises: highpull, squats, clean and press, snatch with a backlunge(my idea) and swings. 20 reps of each as many times as possible. We managed 1100!!!! OUCH.
Back in the changing room I was barely able to walk in a straight line ;)

Oh I watched a program last night, well half of a program. I think they are really trying to educate Britain about nutrition these days. This program was called Fat vs Sugar. Two brothers(twins and both doctors) went on a diet. One add high fat, no sugar at all. The other ate high sugar, no fat. The results were surprising, and not just to me but to the brothers too. The one that ate high fat lost 4kg (2 kg fat, 2 kg muscle) whereas the high sugar one only lost 1kg( 800g fat, 200g muscle). The really interesting bit was that the HF became boderline diabetic and insulin resistant but the HS produced a lot more insulin and his body coped well with the high sugar intake.

At the same time they were offering people in the UK and in America donuts to see which variety they would go for and why and to see if there was a difference between them.

They also followed a study with rats: On a high fat diet the rats ate fat but less of their normal food but didn't put ant weight on. The same when they were fed with high sugar.
But when they were fed with high fat and high sugar ( a cheesecake) they ignored their normal food totally and put on lots of weight. They seem to have lost the ability to tell when they were full.

The result of the donut study was that most people(UK and Amerila) went for a simple glazed donuts in which the balance between fat and sugar was perfect ( about 50/50) same as in the cheescake.

So it gets to show again. Its not one or the other that is making us fat: its the combination of it!!!

Wednesday: I am a bit more level headed today.

Had a good old natter with my mum yesterday ( conversations are a lot easier flowing since my visit beginning of the month) and a lovely chinwag with my Dot later that night :)

No change on the Lady Times front. Nearly a month now.

I am looking forward to Kettlebells tonight. LB might join me for the first time this year. Tonight will be even tougher as it is the last time in January. We always do a new one at the beginning of the month and James keeps on making it harder by taken breaks out and/or adding more exercise on. But to be fair he does it too and he is using 2 16kg bells!!!

It is supposed to get colder towards the end of the week. Could be interesting as many places are still flooded or waterlocked. Luckily we live on a hill so we can't get flooded, but if it snows we are buggered.

Saturday is the last day of the shooting season. Yeah. As much as I enjoy going out every weekend....we don't get much done to the house during the winter, and the project list is still longer then my legs.

Eating is not going too bad if I ignore the odd chocolate attack. But I have not been going out to buy new, its still lingering around from christmas.

Happy Hump Day :)
