As my wife became very ill and was hospitalized multiple times in the last few years, I stopped taking care of myself and my weight ballooned - I gained around 80 pounds in a few years. Thanks to modern medicine and the skill of some wonderful doctors my wife has made a full recovery, and it is time that I sort myself out!
Starting weight was over 330 pounds in early April 2019. My first primary goal is 220, which is still a little overweight for 6'1", but I'd ideally like to put on some muscle mass - I'll reevaluate then to decide how much more to lose. I also have some mini goals along the way, passing 260 will be a big one as it'll be close to my 'before everything went bad' weight and will feel like a reset.
My approach so far involves:
16/8 Fasting window, no food before 12pm, nothing after 8pm.
A set <400 calorie lunch - somewhat protein heavy, salad, beans, chicken breast and poached egg.
A healthy dinner, ideally 400-900 calories, lean meat and veg.
Metamucil sugar free fiber supplement.
If I'm waaaay under on calories and in danger of getting too hungry, supplement with some 1% cottage cheese before 8pm.
If I can stick to this when I'm home then I can still fit in some restaurants and occasional drinks on the weekends while maintaining a weekly calorie deficit.
I'm also walking, and doing some basic dumbbell weight training now. I'd like to start jogging but I want to lose a little more weight as my knees aren't great.
