OK staying on the diet this week is going to be hard. Going to do my best to not eat so much. My problem is if its in front of me I can't resist. But going to have fun. My Bunco group is having our christmas party tonite. We take part of the funds we collect through out the year and pick to needy familys in our area and buy jackets for all the kids in the family. This year we have two familys, then we put in extra and everyone also bout a present for each child and our local grocery store is helping with providing a good christmas dinner for the familys. It will be fun but we've also truned it into a potluck. So I know there will be food there that will be so yummy and high carbs.
Then Saturday its a friend birthday and going to stay in the valley and have a girls weekend and christmas shop and have dinner and eat and drink bad food. Think canget away with eating a salad at dinner but drinks might be a different story.
christmas parties and shopping are going to be the death of me.

The wonderful thing about Atkins is that you can easily make it work when you are out. Order a steak with a side of grilled veggies. As far as drinks go, Michelob Ultra only has 2.6 carbs per bottle. Most spirits do not have any carbs and if you mix them with diet soda, you can have a carb free drink. While you may not be following the plan to the letter, you can get things that are very low in carb most places that you go. There is absolutley no need to have a carb blowout just because you are out with friends. Make a good low carb dish to share at the potluck. You may impress a few people with how good low-carb tastes!! Just throwing up your hands and saying you can't do it really shouldn't be an option. You need to do this for a lifetime if you want to stay slim and reap all the benefits that a low carb way of eating provides. If you aren't willing to make that kind of commitment to your health now you will have to make that kind of commitment to sickness later. If you haven't read the book, do so. You really CAN do this. Great idea with helping the less fortunate families in your area...that's REALLY what the holidays should be all about.

I think you would feel better about it if you didn't blow it completely. You have made so much progress so far, do you really want to give that up? I agree with slease about the potluck. Just bring something you KNOW you can have and anything else that you find that you can eat will be a bonus. I am sure your friends will understand if you don't try everything there. And there really are great low-carb drink options, you have to make this work for you for the long term. You may not stick to your carb goal for the day, but that doesn't mean that you have to blow it completely. Chose your "fun days" and save them for something you really want. Don't make them more than once a month or you will just frustrate your dieting efforts.
