Tianator's Journal, 16 Feb 10

ack it's a pain to record everything I eat, especially during the week at school. I'm generally just too busy with class and homework. So that being said... I may not be eating enough? I don't eat a lot when I'm bored... that and I'm getting sick of food. I'm only eating now because I know I HAVE to eat or I'll be sickly and all gross. I do keep a mental note of what I eat and there are some days where I don't hit my 20 carbs so I indulge and have a smidgeon of vanilla in my ear grey tea... other than that I'm basically eating the same as my mum. Lucky sod.
I guess I can't really be disappointed though I am losing weight... it's just frustrating when my aunt and mum can loose so much and I'm stuck at a happy 1.3 loss a week D:

oh well... we'll see once this reading week is over. I'll be eating more because I'm at home... and I have an eating problem where I don't stop eating when I'm at home... I do hope there's enough food XD

I've also stopped the induction and introduced yogurt into my diet, so now I'm eating yogurt for breakfast as well. Induction was fun... but I can't keep doing it. I'm still craving too many of the foods. The craving goes when I have a little bit (usually in the form of my vanilla syrup) but then it comes back the next day D:
Maybe this wasn't meant for 22 year old XD
I have been sleeping a hell of a lot more too... but that may be just from not eating quite enough food.
We'll see. I'm sure I'll gain some weight this reading week XD

I'm thinking that you haven't read the program. Highly suggest that you go to this site and do the lessons on Induction AND OWL. You shouldn't be doing Induction for more than 2 weeks, but re-introducing foods needs to be done in stages. It works for every age, but if you learn to eat correctly now, you won't be overweight in 20 years and have to slog thru when it is much harder to loose. http://community.atkins.com (click on "learn")

Well I'm not to sure about that. There's a book my mum got for the Atkins diet and there was a fellow that was on induction for more than two weeks, and he did fabulous on it, hence why we were going with it. That is why I just started introducing a couple other veggies and yogurt, 5 more carbs. The problem is, is that I don't tend to loose weight on diets, I'm not a dieter type person, my body doesn't work that way it would seem, the only way I've been able to loose weight has been by going to the gym. Which is fine because I'm really not to bent on the loosing weight thing, I think it's a waste of time to worry about what a silly scale tells me. And I dunno, as far as eating correctly, I was before this diet, perhaps not the correct portion size (I'm a glutton what can I say :) ) but I always had the right serving suggestions and such. As a whole the family doesn't eat badly, we don't really have much candy and that sort of thing... I'm just a starch fiend is all.

if you are craving non-acceptable foods, it's because you have not done the induction phase properly. Induction is to train your body to NOT crave non acceptable foods. I understand the time issues with recording your foods. I work full time, commute 2 1/2 - 3 hours a day and attend college classes full time. My girls are now playing softball and practice 4 nights a week that I am dealing with. Except for this past weekend, I record my food every day. I am aware each day where I have faulted and where I can improve my chances of success. Don't get me wrong, I am not trying to come off as someone that is lecturing or critiqing. This is your decision. If you really want this, you could have it.

I'm glad you have the commitment to do that! I don't have that sort of commitment when it comes to remember food. I've got short term memory for that XD Don't get me wrong, there was one week I wasn't craving anything, and it was probably the week I cheated on the most, which is disappointing (that was the week I went to a wedding and had a cupcake :( ) You're right if I wanted it I would do it, I cannot for the life of me obsess about the scale. That's my biggest issue, is I don't -care- about my weight, I care about how my clothes fit. That's probably why I'm not taking this diet as serious as I could, because it's all about numbers, I don't like numbers, they're a fickle thing to me... It's why I haven't really weighed in... I know I've lost some because my clothes fit nicer and my delightful little buddha belly has a harder time sticking out.

Well if that's not motivation enough for you to stick with it, then this probably isn't for you. I for one, have cheated like you wouldn't believe. But I keep coming back, trying my hardest to find a way to be one of those success stories like others. I am tired of being afraid and I am especially tired of hiding myself from other behind 100 lbs of fat. I do wish you well. And don't forget, we will still be here if you decide you want to come back.

Well I can't say I'll come since I haven't really left now can I? Success is purely suggestive anyways, everyone's 'success story' is going to be different, my success is fitting clothes so I don't have to cough up more money to buy new ones :) You're success is loosing weight :) I shouldn't say that, I am disappointed at not loosing more than I have, but thats because I turn everything into a competition, and I'm loosing D: I can't expect great things from food, aside from deliciousness. You should never be afraid of anything, aside from the typical phobias... or not so typical. Fat is fat.. it comes and it goes... I prefer it to come in the cold months when I'm less hungry, and shimmy on off when it's summer and I can be out doing things. But that's just me ;)

This is a post from a successful person on the Atkins website. I hope this helps you think of where you are and where you want to be. Please know, I cannot change your mind, only want you to know you are not alone. From Dr Atkins DADR 72 Page 261 "The main change that has to be made is in your HEAD. Success in maintaining your trim figure and your zest for living is guaranteed if you can achieve this radical change in your thinking. If you have a chronic weight problem it is essential to totally accept, fully understand that your fat is one symptom of a lifetime disease. Your metabolizing processes are and always will tend to be abnormal . YES, even if you get slim and stay slim. Many medical studies have shown that the biochemical responses of a formerly overweight person, such as the excessive insulin release when carbohydrates are eaten, are still quite different from a never overweight person. In other words you cannot eat what normal people eat and expect to stay thin. So say this to yourself over and over until you've got it through your rebellious head. "My tendency to over weight is one sign of a chronic metabolic disorder. My physiology doesn't handle certain kinds of food as slim physiologies do. I must not try and compare my eating habits to those of a person who has never had a weight problem. NOT NOW NOT EVER . " I have an illness, A life long illness. I can't cure it but I can CONTROL IT "

Well now I must agree with all of that. It is absolutely true, all of it. I want to be happy, that's the only place to be, and as Buddha would say, "Success is not the key to happiness, happiness is the key to success ..." I've got a high metabolism, but when you do nothing with your life and sit on a chair, fast or slow, that metabolism doesn't mean squat... which is upsetting to say the least. Atkins, has helped make me happier, I'm not constantly crashing from digesting my food so fast and then eating all over again. It's helped control my food intake, that's all I would ever expect from a diet based on food consumption :D Which is fine with me.
