Tianator's Journal, 20 Jan 10

Day one was a night mare.
I would compare it to a drug addiction withdrawal. Headache, dizziness, weakness, vertigo, EMOTIONAL. I was a pretty good mess all day. I'm a HUGE fan of starch, pasta, rice potatoes. I eat fruit every day at least four times a day, and I loooooooove chai lattes. I love carbs.
So going from a carb rich diet to... salad, tuna and water for lunch was a nightmare. Though some of the problem I'm sure was I REALLY wasn't prepared for how bad it might hit me. Exhausted. Just totally drained, I was in bed asleep by ten; I usually stop reading and go to sleep at midnight....

second day... was not that bad.. nothing spectacular happened really. I felt a bit moodier, better though because we went shopping again to get some more things to eat and munch on -- I'm a muncher all day every day. Especially when I'm bored. I love food... -- The morning was pretty rough actually. But I'm not a big breakfast eater ever, so I didn't have anything (but I did down one of the Atkins choco shakes but after that didn't work and I still felt horrid I had one of those smores Atkins bars things) Usually I just have an XL steeped tea from timmie's and I'm good for the morning and sometimes the afternoon. Almost got myself into a mess from that episode, by the time lunch hit I was vibrating and felt like my insides were trying to come outside... not fun. But after I ate I was.. better.

Today was not bad at all. I switched my strategy up. If I eat in the morning it's AFTER my shower. I ate before today and felt fine by the time 9 hit. Which was a wonderful relief. Still pretty emotional, lunch came at a good time, because I was ready to burst into tears over silly things in class (mixing black is not fun...) Ate, felt fine. I suppose I should also mention going to the washroom was annoying. I don't normally go at school but I went four times today D: and a yellow-green color is the new thing, didn't you know? Hungry again by 6, had a tea... Good day though. As long as I remember to eat BEFORE showering or any other activity that makes me too hot, I should be good.

I would love to have spaghetti right now ... I would cut off three toes for a big 'ol plate of spaghetti and garlic toast...

You're on your way and you're not that overweight so it's good to get the carbs under control before you're fifty pounds heavier. Remember to take the vitamins the book recommends and someone on here recommended broth for getting through those first shaky days before you don't feel an overwhelming need to eat nonsensically, which will happen if you stick to this diet properly...

WOW..Great journal entry. Welcome!!! The Atkins shake works as a snack, but don't make it a meal. I find that my energy (and emotional level) stays steady if I eat every 2-3 hours. (5-6 meals a day). Keep an eye on your fat. If you start feeling hungry, you will want to increase your fat. Chicken, Turkey and Deer (game) meat all have relatively low fat content. DON'T ever skip meals. You will regret it. If you haven't already, I'd suggest that you check out www.atkins.com. There is a very active community there that can help out with any questions that you have.
