Here is my quote for the day:

Ladies and gentlemen, I am here to tell you that the practice of afternoon tea should be resurrected as the cure to all that ails the mind, body and soul. If it is possible to be in love with a place, the Crown & Crumpet Tea Salon is my forevermore heart-throb. Perched on the second level of Ghirardelli Square in San Francisco, this tea shoppe (it MUST be spelled with the "e") is a girlish fantasy of whimsy and femininity that cannot be missed. The tea selection is stunning, the scones are evil, and the tea sandwiches fill you up in a surprising manner that is delightfully unexpected. I thoroughly enjoyed my day out with the girls wearing tiaras I found at Target, and am sitting here as I type with a satisfied smile on my face. I thoroughly enjoyed every bite, and though the calories and fat and carbs are tipping the scales on the side of overly decadent, I timed it so I could enjoy myself. Huzzah! Long live the Queen.

And there's Kara's Cupcakes right next door. The caramel filled Fleur de Sel cupcake was DELICIOUS.

Needed to get something in me earlier than I did today. Felt like I was rushing all morning as a result of going to bed so late...AGAIN. Need to change this habit, am hoping this will change in hawaii. Walked up & down stairs this afternoon as we shopped. The 1 lb weight loss/fluctuation from yesterday seems flukey, and I expect I'll see a gain tomorrow morn.

That looks amazing. THank god it's no where near me. Lol. I like afternoon tea. Way back when spent nine months in the South Pacific I spent some time in the Philippines. It wasn't safe to travel in the mountains by myself so I met up with this British guy and we did some hiking. Anyway. We used to get tea every afternoon (clearly the hiking wasn't too intense) and it was so nice. I thought at the time that I would always do it but then of course I forgot about it. I also need to go to bed early but it is so hard.

@trying: I am on the right, perched atop the sofa in the back behind everyone wearing a pink blazer. And I was surprised I stayed under dailies too, though my morning weigh-in spoke a different story, as I expected...

@beets: the apartment right above my office just came up for rent. I am officed in a 2-storey Victorian and 2 of the 3 renters have moved out. I had the INSANE notion that I could rent the upstairs unit and host teas on the weekends! ::SNORT:: As if. But oh how my whimsical heart wishes it could be so! I've decided afternoon tea is something I need to do on a quarterly basis to get in touch with my inner-Queenliness. If anyone ever comes out the the NoCal west coast, I will drop everything to take you to the Crown & Crumpet!

@/0: That sign is the epitome of British backbone! I adore it and found a copy on-line. At some point it'll be framed and hung to remind myself to do what it says.

@Dawn: I TOTALLY agree about wanting to have my own tea party!

@sharon: the cupcakes...OH, the cupcakes ::SWOON:: And there is not enough that can be said for the stately mien one acquires with a simple $1.00 tiara :)

@cathy: Thank you so much for your kind words! And tea, especially at a place like the C&C, is so worth the calories consumed. It was an AMAZING time.
