So far this summer, I think I have had only four days when I was neither on vacation or part of someone else's vacation (hosting out of town visitors)!

We returned last night from a fantastic trip to Yellowstone National Park. It is an amazingly beautiful place. We did a lot of walking and hiking, but we also did a lot of sitting in the car, snacking, and eating at restaurants.

For today at least, I ate more like the human I want to be. I made some good choices while I was on the road, but I also did some utterly thoughtless eating. I need to pay more attention, each time I go to put food in my mouth! At one point during the trip, my son insisted we stop at Panda Express, his favorite fast food. I don't mind as I always get the mixed veggies rather than the rice or noodles. As I was eating my meal, I realized that I was eating more vegetables during that lunch than I'd had over the previous few days! Yikes.

We are about halfway through the summer and things really are not slowing down. In two days, I leave for the midwest to visit Mom and the rest of the family. When we get back home, more visitors arrive. I cannot let travels and visitors derail my healthy lifestyle the way I have allowed the past six weeks or so. I need to take much better care of myself during this second half of the summer.
