izzypup68's Journal, 26 Mar 16

I am back to stay for a while this time. I find that my food choices are drifting further and further from where I want them to be. I need to get back to tracking everything I eat so I can get my perspective realigned.

Exercise has been no problem. Despite El Nino and the rains that have dumped all over northern CA in the past few months, I have already completed over 100 hiking miles this year! My goal was 250 for the entire year, but I may need to rethink that number. I love it. I have started adding more weight to my backpack each time to increase the work out. My dog has never been happier! I still get to the gym, but I will admit that I have not been working so hard there. I did take my first Body Pump class last week and I really liked that. I will be doing that again regularly.

It is the eating. I have been thinking a lot about the good choices that have become part of my way of thinking. I eat much healthier overall, for example, including many veggies and fruits in my day. I have not completely lost the new healthy outlook, but I see things slipping and I need to nip that in the bud. I ran up against my old nemesis, potato chips, and he won that round. Then, the cookies kicked me while I was down. After that, I figured I might as well have that wine... I felt so sluggish and blah after eating too much of these foods that are not good for me.

I know better, but I did it anyway, and that bothers me. I have worked very hard to stay fit and healthy and I won't let ruffles and snickerdoodles undercut all of that effort!

So glad you are catching yourself now before it takes over. The carbs and sugar can be brutal. Have you thought of making your own chips? Some people thin slice potato or sweet potato and bake on a cookie tray...

That's an interesting thought, HCB. Make potatoes slices as substitute for chips. I'm beginning to realize how imperative it is to keep the crap out of the cupboards. lol

Yes, I have relaxed my rules about what food I let in the house and it is not working for me!

I found myself slipping as well. A cookie here, French fries there. I caught it before it did any weight damage. Today I start the 2 week dietdoctor.com challenge to get me back on track. I don't ever want this woe to slip away.
