OKAy, as usual I've probably ticked off a few people. I've said a way of eating is not a diet, not a cheat here and there but something you need to do to so for life.

I sincerely believe this. So if others are upset -- so be it......Many of you who know me understand.

Didn't tick me off, I was trying to illustrate the absurdity of a once-a-week cheat day by sarcastically pointing out that I was "considering" one after a year. I'm not actually considering one, just wanted to clarify. :)

Yeah I don't really understand that either. How can you change your way of eating if you plan days to not eat that way? Not too mention the fact that it just plain doesnt work.......

I don't understand. Is it the word "cheat" that you don't like? I eat LCHF but I know that there will be times I will deviate from my norm. I'm ok with that and I personally don't use the word "cheat" as it has a negative connotation TO ME, but that's just me.

I honestly also do not understand a 'cheat day" I work those days into my overall plan and simply adjust calories into my week. Life is good and throws you all kinds of loops so just go with the flow. I have a life with a job, kids, and friends who do not follow my plan for eating. So if life events happen, adjust your plan to fit and go for it!!! I have learned on this journey family and friends are a huge part of your life, take the time and enjoy them. Food is often an integral part and that's OK. Let it be. Food is amazing!!! It is part of your life and let it be so. Just don't let it control your life.

Footnote: I do NOT DO LOW CARB. It simply is an awful nightmare for me in more ways than one.

Apparently cheat days don't exist, and I rather like it that way. Count calories, restrict carbs, who cares, because you can work it into a larger eating plan and balance it out. Balance is important because you fall down without it.

'Cheating' is part of my WoE, therefore it isn't cheating 😁 Not all days have to be the same.

Definitely Heidi, not all days are the same. My WOE is terribly eclectic and it works for me.

I agree that seeking balance is the way to go. If you do wander off the ideal path, you adjust and get right back into what makes you feel the healthiest. Life does keep things interesting and you make the best choices in the circumstances in which you find yourself (or better yet, plan ahead so you are not forced to choose something you don't want). I still occasionally indulge in foods I know are not great for my body but are good for my soul. I don't have a problem with doing that, but I don't do it all the time or I would be right back where I started. I never looked at that as cheating really. It is all part of the larger plan to keep my life healthy and on track.

I hear more guilt for going off plan and we should Never feel guilty. If we are on a plan that inhibits life and celebrations than perhaps we should rethink where we are and what the hell we are doing. WFN has found her way. Celebrations in life should never be "cheats" but something we can be fond of and work later to even out the results.
