Anyone else tired of silly commercials insulting our intelligence?
People who bought an exercise machine (and used it everyday), did a workout program everyday or went on a weight loss program (and stuck to it) losing weight??? Duh! (I'd rather donate my money to help a cause)

I am so glad I don't have TV, live in a place where the nearest town is 8 miles away and so small there are no advertising hoardings, or bus shelters, and I don't take magazines or papers..... sounds awful out there in the real world!!!

Penlan, tis the season for Political Advertising and Weight Loss plan advertising. It seems that January of Presidential election years starts sheer hades for advertising. It's ugly during other times..but not quite as bad. You're not missing anything at all!

Just chiming in as a Brit - out adverts are heavily controlled, drug adverts are not allowed, nor are dubious health claims, one thing that amazes me each time I visit America is the outright lies, and odd claims your advertisers are allowed to make! Just bizarre (to me as a Brit)

In response to Tatmummy, I think there are "truth in advertising" laws but unless the government gets involved because people are actually being harmed from consuming or utilizing a product, it would be up to individuals to bring suit to remove the ad or even stop the product from being sold. And that would be quite costly in attorney fees. Many Americans are waking up to who and what really runs this country - which is big business and big money. Some must admire that, which explains Trump; and some must be fed up with that, which explains Sanders.

The "truth in advertising" must be the minute of warnings for the drug commercials? Drug companies use federal funding to develop new drugs and proactively put away money for the inevitable lawsuits when people get sick and die. It IS bizarre tatmummy.
