So I was sick last week and now I'm once again stressing. This time of year I stress, then stress eat, then gain, then give up. I need to change that trend because it happens every year and my weight creeps up a little more every year. I need to get back here more religiously and track.

I haven't weighed in for a long time because I know it will show a gain, and I'm just not ready to see what it is, but maybe it will help me get back on track. I've been eating horribly and not exercising, so it's no surprise that I'm gaining. In times of stress I completely lose motivation until the stressor is gone, so I need to work on that. I have 5 weeks to finish my classes and I know I can do it, I just need to get my butt in gear and get them done. The other thing I'm stressing about is the annual office Christmas Party. I always stress about it and I shouldn't, but this year we're having trouble finding a bar to serve and we have to get that done ASAP. We thought we had someone lined up, then they decided they were going to close their bar, so now we're scrambling and everyone is wanting to charge a lot and we have no money. We already have to tack the cost of the room onto the cost of the meal, so to add more to that will make less people want to go. Then I stress about cooking for the meal and setting up the room, but I don't really need to stress about that for another month. I'm a worrier, so it's in my nature. I know exercise would help me relieve the stress, but finding time right now to fit it in has been hard too. Once I complete my classes that will free my evenings up and my exercise time. Waking up early would be another option and I was doing it, but I would have to get back into the routine. We'll see if I can make that happen.

Anyway, enough about my stress. I am looking forward to Halloween this weekend, I love seeing all of the kids dressed up and having fun. I also love Halloween movies, so it's a great time of year for me. :) My kids are both going out trick-or-treating, my son is going with a friend and my daughter is taking our niece around the neighborhood. We'll go with each of them at least for a bit, then go home and pass out candy. We're getting closer to the age when our kids won't go anymore, so I just have to enjoy it while I can.

I hope everyone has a great Tuesday!!

Hey there buddy, we are in the same boat! I've been here since I started nursing school last summer lol. Every time I think I have a hold on the stress something else comes along. Five weeks of class, that's awesome. I know you can do it :) I too love the horror movies, but I also love the sweet snacks. Excited to take my kiddos out too, with my oldest being eleven I don't have many trips left with her. I hope you have a great day, try not to sweat the Christmas party too much. It will work out, one way or the other.

Hey Mars -- good to have you back and glad you recovered from the flu, though I'm sorry that recovery has met with some added stress! (You sound like my Mom -- she's not 'happy' unless she's worrying about something . . . even if that something is weeks or months away!) Everybody's different -- particularly when it comes to the scale -- but I feared if I avoided even one weekly weigh-in (despite anticipating the increase) that it would become that much easier to continue with the damage and then perhaps walk away from the process entirely. BUT, like I said, everyone's different and it may be that you find it easier to get back on track with an 'ignorance is bliss' approach if I higher number will only discourage, rather than motivate you. Can't help or offer any advice with the classes except to say that at least the end is near! As for X-mas party, would it be cheaper/possible to just rent an inexpensive, non-descript 'space' (not necessarily bar/restaurant) that allows alcohol to be served and have the event catered? I love Halloween and horror films as well . . . if you're looking for a way to get rid of leftover candy (particularly chocolate), re-coup some of the $$ you spent on it AND serve a good cause, check out http://www.halloweencandybuyback.com/ -- participating dentists collect and weigh the candy you bring in (check site for nearby dentists and then the dentist office for 'collection hours') and pay you $1/lb. and then send the candy to military serving overseas. :)

Yep I need to just relax more and stress less. :) For the party we always rent a room or hall that's not too expensive and either have it catered or do the cooking and have a local bar run the bar. The problem is everything is getting so expensive and we don't have money until people pay for the meal. There is someone who helped me last year and she's helping again, and she cooks the meat and potatoes and I do a veggie and rolls and pick up stuff for salad, and we have people bring dessert. This year the bar is just stressing me because we don't want to have to charge more because of that and I don't want people not to come because we don't have a bar, (it may be BYOB though). Sadly, that is a reason people wouldn't come and if we spend money on food and the room and not many people show up we're out a lot of our own money. We never know how many people are going to go until about the week or 2 before, so that's part of why I stress until it's over too. It will be fine, we'll make it work one way or another, but I stress. I've seen the money for Halloween candy before, but I never eat my kids candy, it's the candy at the office or other places that's out everywhere. Maybe I need to grab all that candy and take it to sell. :)
