ObeseToBeast123's Journal, 26 Apr 23

Been MIA for a bit ... busy with work and kids and Ive been working around back to back injuries but still putting lots of time into training. Plus Id rather not get involved with all the recent FS drama that's been going on 🙄. Our first spartan is on Sunday so I won't do any more weight lifting until then just keep messing around in the garage on the obstacles. Making sure to fully submerge my feet at every stream crossing since I'll be running with wet and muddy feet during all my races 😄

Supergainz... I think this last one descended from diet wars to just plain "war"

Cheesegobbler84 your advice is always welcome. going to see how things go for now. I have made significant changes to my weight lifting I'm not spending 2 hours in my gym destroying myself 6 days a week anymore I'm follwing an actual program and lift full body every other day now and on my off days I mess around on obstacle stuff and usually only get a run in once a week or every other week if I'm on call. I definitely have to pull the reigns back on the distance though. have my running gate analyzed sounds like a really Greta idea. I am conscious of not heel striking but I'm not running roads its all on trails where the terrain varies greatly so that certainly doesn't help lol

Supergainz1 ego running that's hilarious love it. yeah diet discussions are great but you need people that do t have blinders on and have an open mind such as yourself. I have learned so much on here regarding dieting and lifting but I have an open mind and can accept being wrong and listening and trying something new. none of that is what's happening its just endless bashing and pointless

TheUnhealthyDaddy we will see how it goes I'm doing all the exercises to strengthen the weaker muscles contributing to it and all the stretches. giving up isn't in my nature. I've come back from much worse than this.

Moko 13 haha It was so hard for me to dunk them the first time lol but I knew it was going to happen soon enough. Thanks I won't be 100 percent but I have no problem taking it super easy on Sunday running or even walking if I really have to between the obstacles I have a 15k 3 weeks later that I need to be good for as well and plan to do no running at all between the 2 events.

cindylynnwho haha we share the same issue I can't look away either and it makes me want to reply to it as well but I've done a great job of staying out of all of it because there's never any winning but like you said that's a me problem lol.

Yep, I think I was involved in some of the drama that you are speaking about. Sorry about that. I generally try to stick with compliments and the occasional joke but I got sucked in.

TheUnhealthyDaddy I don't want to start it back up again on here and you don't need to apologize for anything by any means. I typed up and deleted a reply or 2 to that thread before hitting submit. It's a me problem that I'm just trying to avoid getting sucked into that kind of drama but like Cindy said it's hard to look away lol

That is really interesting info about running. I had no idea about how your foot lands can make such a difference (don't know why it was surprising). I'm slowly adding some jogging into my walking. I will have to pay attention to this the next time I do. OTB, do you ever get massages? I don't know if it would be beneficial for the particular area that you have injured, but I have found it extremely beneficial. I suffer from a really high level of muscular skeletal pain, and I have found it has monumentally increased my mobility. (Just a friendly inquiry, and not unsolicited advice.)

Wisco Soul not something I normally do but I'll try anything. Scheduling and running all these events are what gives me the motivation to stay fit and get stronger. I've been using the massage gun and foam roller for the 4 connecting muscles for the past few days

I didn't realize the benefits of massage until I met my husband (he's a massage therapist at a chiropractic office) because I just thought it was something for relaxation purposes. It's made a huge difference in my life helping my mobility and pain management.

Wisco Soul thats awesome I'm a big believer in chiropractors being magicians haha that was the first stop I made my hips always end up getting twisted and my legs end up different lengths which is probably part of why the one knees hurts so I go in for a "tune up" every month or so. Thankfully the weight loss and all the strength training has fixed all the back problems I use to run.into. they have a massage therapist at mine as well probably give it a shot.

I used to work outdoors in the wet manholes underneath Manhattan (on the power cables) and there is nothing worse than getting your feet and then body wet at the beginning of a 8 to 12 hour shift. And you are doing it on purpose!! 😂 Hope you find the right sock combo in your experiments! Sorry to hear about the knee, from working the way I did I had to have micro fracture knee surgery about 15 yrs ago, it’s helped a lot, I still really can’t run long distances but I walk (and hike) briskly for miles on end! (I do have to warm up the knee quite a bit though). Hope the pain eases up for you and good luck in the event coming up! 👍🏻💪🏻

LivinBreezy thanks. How have you been? Been wondering since You made your journal private

Kennyn27 that sounds brutal and yeah I hate getting drenched at work I carry extra boots and socks along with a full set of clothes a bath towel and shower sandals incase things get really really rough at work haha. Only showered once in the middle of my shift but changed clothes and boots many times. My current sock combo works great way better than my previous trials. Thanks for the well wishes
