Fitness Hustler's Journal, 22 Dec 22

I’m going to need this month to come to an end already!😬
I’m so caught up in the festive season that my discipline is severely lacking. I’ve stopped tracking my meals (probably eating above my maintenance cals), I’m consuming an unhealthy amount of junk food, and I’m not taking my creatine and protein supplements religiously. The only thing that I’m still doing right is going to the gym/running (which I’ll also have to stop for the next week/two)…

I can’t wait for the new year so I can get back into a routine🤦🏽‍♀️

This is me as well. I'm not so busy that I can't exercise but to be honest my body needs a rest. I'm going to enjoy the holidays and get back on track in the New Year. I have done well in 2022 and I've learnt what works for me so I know I got this

from experience the worst thing u can do is wait for tomorrow. don't wait another day to stop eating junk, don't wait another day to want to be healthy, don't wait another day to love don't wait another day for anything because in life we are not even guaranteed a tomorrow. eat the junk but limit urself to a bite here and a pinch there, don't deprive urself. I learnt the hard way waiting for 20 years of tomorrow's. I'm finally learning how to eat and stil lose weight. I just wish that what I know now, I knew back then. but hey better late than never. happy holidays and good luck.

@chrissie that’s exactly my mindset right now. It has certainly been a great year; adopted a new lifestyle, and my body is thanking me for it. But as you said, a break is much needed right now. Enjoy yourself and all the best.

@thatphatgirl That’s very sound advise, and you’re absolutely right that there’s no better time than now! I just feel like I’ve had a good year, I’ve done everything right up to now, so this is probably my way of “rewarding” myself. I’m just allowing myself the opportunity to enjoy the holidays with loved ones without feeling guilty about eating above my maintenance cals and possibly gaining weight. Something I haven’t done in a while. And thank you for the words of wisdom. “Don’t wait another day…”. Definitely words to live by.

Sounds very familiar. Letting exhausted body have a break to recover from year of change, pushing myself and a dreadful and emotional December. Effect is a 6kg weigh gain in 3 weeks. I think a lot of people are in the boat with you fitness hustler. We will all get back on the treadmill and push on. Good luck.

@kaida thank you for sharing your experience. Don’t beat yourself up about the weight gain, what’s most important is that you gather the strength to continue when you’re ready. It’s called a ‘journey’ for a reason. The process is not linear. We encounter challenges/setbacks along the way, however we persevere in an effort to overcome. All the best for the new year. You got this.🌸
