Good Morning, FS Warriors! It's a beautiful Saturday morning at about 7:30. Been up for about 2 1/2 hours. I've been wanting to get outside and finish up my electrical service installation, but have been holding off so as not to wake the neighbors too early. I don't know why I got up so early on a Saturday morning; only got about 5 hours sleep, but woke up fully rested and wide awake. Spent about an hour with a cup of coffee and my bible, contemplating the significance of the Easter holiday, and counting my blessings. Lest you think I'm just some super spiritual being, I assure you I'm not. After recovering from a 3 or 4 day bout with a stomach virus of sorts, and feeling as good as I do today, I am just grateful that the old body is still able to fight off some of the crap that is floating around these days. Lost 10 pounds in the 3 or 4 days, probably from dehydration, even though I tried to drink as many bottles of water as I possibly could. I'm pretty convinced that dehydration was the cause of the weight loss, since I gained half of it back overnight. I had gotten up to my all-time hight of 254, went down to 244 and then back up to 247. Ate one bowl of oatmeal in 3 days and then tried chicken noodle soup before the digestive track was ready for it - and then poof - it was gone. I never recovered so fast from an illness in my life, but it was terrible while it lasted - I was power hurling, which is very cumbersome when you have little control over either end. Enough said.
Well, my deadbeat tenant is, well, a deadbeat. I gave him the opportunity to work off the rent he owed. He talked a good show, but never showed or called. I guess he isn't the kind of worker I need anyway. I decided to pay another guy, who is a good worker, to help me when he is available. I'm going to tell the tenant that the deal is off the table and he had better be making some arrangements to pay his debt. I think his problem is he just isn't interested in working for anyone else; if he isn't in charge, he isn't interested. He was actually managing a campsite for the county and the board fired him. Not only that, but because of his behavior, he has been barred from even visiting the place.
Well, I brought the puppy home. I've had to build an indoor kennel adjacent to the Mack's kennel. I get them out together and spend 45 minutes of so at a time. I have to chapperone their time together. Onyx is too feisty and runs and jumps on him and bites his ear and stuff, and he doesn't know how to handle her yet. But I praise him when he tolerates her, and he's getting better. She's a little cutey. Her feet are huge and I suspect she is going to be a pretty big girl. She will grow pretty fast, and I don't think it will be that long before I can keep them together.
The outside electrical service is almost done; the only thing left is for me to bury a couple ground rods and hook them up to the meter socket. I can't wait until I've got the electrical service turned on in the gym. I've been running a 125 ft. extension chord from the school to the gym for 6 years now. Of course, I have a generator out there for the big stuff, like welding. But it's going to be a lot more motivating to work out there in the cold and dreary months when the place is well lit, and I can keep the doors closed.
Well, I'm trying the turn the sickness into a blessing, and using it to jump start some discretionary eating, instead of consuming anything and everything that is readily available. In particular, I am doing everything I can to avoid bread; it seems to be a nemesis of mine. DW brought a couple of fish sandwiches home from Burger King for me, at a time when I was too sick to even think about food. So, she put them in the refrigerator. Over the last couple days, I have taken the fish, peeled off the breading, and heated only the fish up in the microwave and eaten that - one per day. I haven't been entirely a saint though; DW made her best spaghetti ever, and even though with the best intentions I dished up a modest helping, I gave myself 15 minutes after I was done, to enjoy the feeling of fullness - and then went back for a 2nd not so modest helping. I was just testing the waters to make sure the diahrea was gone. :D Yeah, right. It was delicious; but in all honesty, it was about all I had all day, except for a bowl of oatmeal in the morning. I can attribute most of that to just staying so busy outside.
Well, enough rhetoric for one journal entry. I hope everyone has a wonderful Easter weekend. I consider Easter to be the day we celebrate the most significant event that has ever occurred in history. Have a great time with friends and familly, and Happy Easter!
