Yesterday was BJJ class then Mauy Thai class afterwards. I usually do back to back classes. Since my other female classmate was there, she wanted to be my partner. She is awesome. But she is not big on BJJ. We were doing new BJJ moves. Since I am new to this, I am not sure how all the moves are supposed to feel. I let her go first on one of the moves, she did it a bit quickly and since I couldn't tap out..I had to say "tap" but she went a little far and now my elbow hurts. I didn't think it was so bad under I started doing pushups for Mauy Thai class and my elbow was in a good bit of pain. I slowly walked out of the middle of Mauy Thai class and watched my BF finish the class. I felt a bit like a loser. It was the first day our Main instructor was back...I met him that day. He is a tough guy...really an amazing fighter.. He asked if I was doing the Mauy thai class. I said yes..and I ended up being the 1st to walk out. Every other Mauy Thai class I did. I just feel weak and feel people won't take me so seriously because I walked out for due to my elbow being in pain. I am my own worst critic. But we females have much to prove when you are the only female among 10 men. I am the only girl who usually stays for Mauy Thai. I just want to prove to my BF I can become good.. He just thinks I am ahead of myself.

Yikes! Yes, you are awesome. No, you are not a loser. If you have pain, something is wrong. Do not push it so that you become injured and sidelined.

Thanks HBC & Glen. I just get critical of myself and I hate failure. But I am starting to think that my cheat days have an effect on my joints. I am convinced grains are the issues for joint pain. Some of what I am feeling is from class. But every so often my knee acts up. I am motivated to go completely grain free because I want to avoid arthritis in the future

I do work in an all male place, but never once have I thought about or felt that I need to prove myself. I know what I am good at and if I don't I ask. I think a lot of females are creating a problem for themselves. You attend a class because you want to learn, not to show of how good or tough you are. Sorry if I sound a bit patronising but its something I do feel strongly about.. Hope your elbow is ok!

I know that I am not expected to prove something to them. The classes are full of great people. We are like a small family. They were messing with me because I walked out of class during the workout because my elbow was starting to really hurt. I didn't want to really hyper extend it more throwing punches. One of the classmates came up to me asking "are you hurt?" I said "yes" he asks "are you crying?" Me: "Course not" him "Well get your ass back in class" LOL He was more serious than joking. But I just did not want to push it. I also didn't have much sleep the night before and my knee was acting up (I think from my bad grain intake) so I am going to do the second class tonight
