Just got back from the doctor for my first physical in about 10 years. now its time to get physical in the home gym, I'll start with some laps up and down the climbing rope using my arms only.. doc was happy I am down significantly in weight since last time I was there plus my Blood pressure was 110 over 68 I guess thats good I dont know this stuff but the nurse was all giddy about it! I checked all the good boxes with non smoker / non drinker, exercise regularly, weight in check, good BP and pulse etc . You know the ones most people lie to them about 😄

Alright I got my blood work back anyone know what all this stuff means I have no clue.. Total cholesterol 102, Triglycerides 37, HDL 44, Vldl 10, LDL 48. I gather its pretty good and the double bacon cheeseburger and multiple orders of fries I had for a off diet plan lunch the day before the test didn't make much of a difference 😅 😄

Your trigs and LDL are magnificent. The HDL could come up to at least 50, as this is the e protective cholesterol that sweeps out the bad (LDL). Your total could come up a little but overall you will not see a heart attack, stroke, or need any blue pills in this lifetime. You may have had an unhealthy meal the day before but that’s obviously the exception and not the rule.

Did you have them test your blood for A1C (blood sugar level check for diabetes)?

JustBananas thanks! I would assume they will call and go over it with me at some point . They ran all sorts of other ones but it doesn't look like a1c was one of them. 🤷‍♂️

Here's an article and chart explaining your Lipid Panel numbers: https://my.clevelandclinic.org/health/articles/11920-cholesterol-numbers-what-do-they-mean

@Otb: That's why I get my doctor to order the labs a few days before my appointment -- so that we can go over the test results together. So now you have a baseline which future results can be compared to. Your doctor is not likely to call you to go over them. They spend their time contacting the people who need medication. Men with LDL >160 or Total >239 get the stern and panicked talk about Statin drugs and their companion, Viagra.

I'd want to have more bloodwork to get a complete picture since it's been so long and the trigs are pretty low. No need to be concerned unless other labs are out of range.

Doctor did actually call me this afternoon and they were happy with everything said keep doing everything Im doing that the diet and exercise are obviously working . They did all the nutrition tests and stuff too everything was good to go 👍 could probably increase my calcium intake that was on the low end but I have barely eaten any dairy this year so I guess that would be expected.

@Otb: if the doctor okay'd the Lipids, then you're good to go unless you suddenly feel sick. Lots of calcium in soymilk, chia seeds, sunflower seeds, almonds, spinach/kale/The Greens, broccoli, sweet potatoes, and white beans. I don't touch milk or any dairy, and my calcium is in normal range, so it can be done with food you already eat that's low in fat, in case you're trying to keep that macro in check.
