yup. portion sizes vs actual weight are very different ito calories. What even is half an avo? is it a big avo or a small avo. what is a teaspoon of peanut butter? slices of bread like you say all have different thicknesses... I learned a lot from moving away from portion size to calculate my intake to using the scale to weigh my portions... the readings are hugely different.
