So cute! Thanks for posting this. What motivates me? This morning it was the birds who keep pulling apart the coco liners of my railing baskets to build their nests and chirping about it. They've told their friends and I get at least a half dozen each morning now. This motivates me to jump up, leave my desk and chase them away. Not sure how to categorize this new exercise lol ;) It's all good, just nature doing what comes naturally.

@losingtowin1...those rascals🐦 We had hummers that cleaned out our dryer vent for their nesting materials...a symbiotic relationship for sure😀 Right now I'm dealing with starlings ravaging my suet feeder...so, like you, I'm up knocking on the window every few minutes. Luckily, I've also got grosbeaks enjoying the feeder too💙

Oh wow, your dryer vent lol Last year, squirrels were the one digging in the planters for something in the fresh potting soil. I am wondering if buying a few pinwheels on sticks will keep them away. I don't have plastic liners in those planters. It's only a small investment :) Have to admit, they are fun to watch even if they pester me!

losingtowin, we feed the birds & squirrels peanuts each morning on our deck. The squirrels were continually digging in my planters to bury some of the peanuts. I started putting the used coffee grounds in the pot around the plants and that seems to be helping.

SherryB yes, last year a neighbor was doing that and the squirrels were bring them over and burying them. What brand coffee? Joking of course. I did try that. Found that hint online but had no success. Keeping my fingers crossed the squirrels don't return too now that I have the birds LOL :)

ltw, the other suggestion I read was put cayenne pepper in your pots.. I was planning to try that next if the coffee grounds didn't work.

@SherryeB Thanks! So far so good but sounds like an easy fix and would likely keep squirrels away.

My workplace is doing a fitness challenge that I'm finding motivating. I've gotten weirdly competitive about it. Today, though, after a big day of mountain biking and hiking yesterday, my desire to rack up points is at war with my desire to get some rest!

Motivation is hard. The book I read on habits suggested making cues for yourself... so have your equiptement or shoes set up so that when you see them you know that this is what you should do and it becomes a habit. Habit may be better than motivation if you can get there...
