Miss Chaudhry, more than likely-no. Is he eating white or wheat because that makes a difference? White rice is more like sugar-bad for you. Also high in calories.

Miss Chaudhry, because your trying to stay on 1200 calorie, you should go for brown rice, but portioned control. Find out what the calories of half a cup, or one cup is. Rice is your carbs and carbs are included. You can go to another free site "Choose my plate.gov", food group and it will tell you all about the food groups. Proteins, Fruits, Dairys, Grains, Fats, Vegetables. Yes, he will still lose if he is watching his carbs for the day and amount.
