ChrisComedy's Journal, 01 Sep 14

Yesterday's coconut oil Kindle drew a response so I'm following up with this link: 25 Clever Uses For Coconut Oil You Probably Don’t Know

This is my journal for Sunday. I'm running a day behind. I stayed up late to watch the pilot for a new Amazon Prime detective show, "Bosch." Seven hours of solid sleep with vivid dreams (Lena Dunham painting self-portraits!).

Summer hasn't given up: a high of 93 and sticky and higher tomorrow.

Sunday was a rest day for exercise and a cheat day for the diet. I went on a rampage and drank all the remaining Slim-Fasts, partly from laziness, partly because it was too hot to cook, partly because the powdered milk arrives tomorrow and I'm going to start drawing down the powdered Slim-Fast.

I'm still mapping out a route to eating more whole foods. Keeping a food diary has made me aware of how much processed foods I'm eating with too much sodium and sugar. I'm thinking about making my own yogurt as a way to get more protein into my diet. It's hard to find yogurt at Kroger that isn't dosed with sugar and fillers. The only question left is whether it's worth an extra $10 to get an automatic timer.

After watching "The Magnificent Seven" while doing cardio yesterday, I'm casting around for a series to binge watch. I finally settled on watching the episodes of Inspector Lewis that I missed on Masterpiece Mystery.

I have just ordered Coconut oil today :-) I will use it for oil pulling. Tried using olive oil (as I already had lots in the kitchen) and had to live with a weird greenish brown tongue after a few days, so I decided to switch, lol.

I have recently started using Coconut oil. I had a set back the last week and I need to start using it again. I just had a bad craving for butter. Even tho I am using butter I measure it to the exact gram. I am now drinking complete skim milk. It took me a while to work myself down to it but now I can't drink anything else. Also I stopped drinking soda. I drink lemon water all day long... What is coconut oil pulling? I heard of it but I am not sure what it does?

gspeach, you put one teaspoonfull of oil in your mouth before eating anything in the morning and swish it around, for 15-20 minutes, as you would do with mouthwash, don't gargle though and spit it out when finished. It is said to help with the bacteria in the mouth, makes the gums healthier and teeth stronger & whiter. I had an unpleasant sensitivity in my two molars and realised I had a mild gingivitis in this area, so decided to give it a try before I pay a visit to my dentist. A few days of that and I still haven't visited her :-) no more sensitivity. But olive oil was obviously not the best choice, lol.

Easy to make your own yogurt or buy plain and add your own goodies, like raspberries.

Thanks for the tip about Magic City, fatty ed. I hadn't heard of it. Unfortunately, it's available on Amazon, but not on Amazon Prime.
