Let's talk about rewards. I work hard to lose weight, walking/running every day and I never take a day off. If I don't walk every day I will gain weight. In February, I went to my doctor and my weight was down 34 lbs [from 222 to 188 lbs] and my blood sugar was normal so the doc took me off the diabetic pills. I bought a purse [tote bag] as a reward. In June, I bought a crossbody bag as a reward to celebrate getting out of the obese category into the overweight category at 163 lbs. I have two more goals left. 1) Get to my mini goal of 143 lbs. 2) Get to my goal weight of 136 lbs. I'm thinking about other rewards that I can look forward to giving myself. When you are working hard to lose weight, it is good to have something to look forward to instead of celebrating with food. When you reach a milestone, a mini goal or your goal weight, what will be your reward to yourself?

But back to topic, find that one thing that gives you the most joy and treat yourself when you reach those goals. You work hard and focus your energy to reach them and the rewards are incentive to focus. A purse, shoes, a bracelet, earrings... whatever give you joy. With me it's clothes that fit right. I now have a closet full of fat clothes that I need to box up and donate to Goodwill because I am NOT going to need them again. I have WAY too much life left to go back to being in bad health because of my weight and I refuse to do it. If yo knew me in real life you'd understand that. My best friend (and executor of my will) once told me "You are so stubborn you'd bury yourself alive just to prove you know how to use a shovel." And she was right.

Your friend is witty, Eddie. No wonder you two get along so well. :)

I have good news. I have been waiting for my son to take my baggy clothes to Goodwill. He always forgets, so I don't nag him about it. Then I got a phone call from another charity who said they are going to be on my street on Friday. So I said Yes, come on over!

I tend to give mine to salvation army, their thrift shop is non-profit. Many of the thrift stores are for profit, goodwill and the veterans ones are now all for profit stores.

I rewarded myself today by buying a pair of size 40 jeans. While I can't QUITE wear them yet, i can button and zip them. The problem is that they cause a muffin top, but they are my incentive pants. After today's testing I decided to try and go for 200, and wanting to wear those jeans for an even at the end of September should be all I need to kick the exercise up a notch and get the fat burning. I have 86.5 pounds of fat on me, and I can lose 38 of them!! Remembering that when I started this journey I was wearing size 52 jeans, fitting into 40s AT ALL is huge for me and it will drive me to the finish line. That's just how I reward myself, with something that reminds me there is more to do. LOL!!

Great answers, everyone! A charity came today and took my fat clothes. Now that I only have one pair of slacks that fit me, I bought a new pair. I am considering getting a new haircut, eye brows done and manicure. Feeling good and smiling a lot. :)

The last time I was on a weight loss journey, I created non-food rewards. I didn't really find that they were much help from a motivation stand-point. So, this time around I haven't set much store in them. When I want something, I get it for myself. That being said, weighing less and exercising more has given me better health and stamina, so I am able to work a bit more consistently and occasionally do extra shifts, so I use that extra cash to treat myself :-)

Somebody here at FatSecret said what would you do with 1 million dollars? I wanted a million $ when I was a young girl, so I could buy everyone a special present that they really needed. Then I would think of them and what they needed. When I get my million $, you are all included! ❤

Aww, you are so sweet. I'm not so sweet. I'd retire so I could pursue lots of different interests and introduce my grand kids to many thing I wasn't able to do with my kids. Build my log house in the woods.
