Wonderful meal! I'd like to try mashing rutabaga and potato together. I think that is what you have here? Hubby loves boiled, mashed rutabaga, but it would stretch them further and have a more mild taste and smoother texture with yellow potatoes?

50/50 roughly is a good ratio for rutabagas & yukons 👍You can err quite a bit either way. And don't forget the cream & butter M 😋

So over the top. Just the shopping list for this plate reads like a level 10 scavenger hunt. I'm a big fan of chile de Arnold and use it in all my quick pickle jars. I also add a few to the mix when make the salsa for pork tamales Colorado. Do you for requests? Make some tamales guajalote with mole negro starting from all raw (or dried) ingredients. If anyone can pull that off its team SK17!

SK, I've made a version of mole negro similar to the Hank Shaw recipe I just reviewed. I remember charring the chilies on the grill outside and not in oil, though, as he describes. Charred/scorched the chile seeds on the grill, too. Felt bizarre. It was fantastic and worth the effort. Rave reviews from all partakes. For the guajalote, I used wings. It's an adventure and a half. Enjoy it. Oh, and I did use corn husks and not banana leaves as they would use in Oaxaca.
